Motherhood is one of the most crucial relationship constructs we carry as a collective. Wrapped up in the concept is all kinds of emotions, fears, hopes, dreams, sorrows, and joys. In this IM Series, Expanding Motherhood, we explore three major energetic archetypes associated with motherhood. Whether you are a mother, plan to be a mother or were birthed by a mother, you’re impacted by the stories and examples we share collectively about the role of mom. We invite you to join us in an elevated perspective of “mother” and lean into the sheer joy of experiencing an unabashed affair with the deep comfort and creation made possible through its expression.

Motherhood is the complex arrangement of various roles, responsibilities, commitments, and privileges afforded to the brave souls who choose to raise the offspring.

We’re really, really excited about this one as we come up on Mother’s Day in some super unprecedented times. I think it’s okay for us to say, “What is all of this telling us and should we be looking a little more deeply? Should we be looking a little more expansively at our ways of beingness? And this series is going to let us do just that. To be clear, this is not just for mothers, this is for every one of us who recognize that archetypally we have connections into mother, to what that means, and we are programmed because we have certain beliefs about that. So we’re going to start peeling back some of the layers on that, tugging on some of those threads, and it’s really important that each one of us take a look at what the impact of our experience with motherhood has been, whether as the recipient of that, as the giver of that. Regardless, here’s a way to look at it.

Motherhood is the complex arrangement of various roles, responsibilities, commitments, and privileges afforded to the brave souls who choose to raise their offspring. Now, what do we mean by that? Of course, the obvious is obvious, mothers, motherhood. You birth the child, you get the opportunity to raise that child if you so choose. But also we do that internally. We splinter off aspects of ourselves. We give birth to new aspects of ourselves. We fuel certain ones and we starve other ones, right? So there is an internal process that goes along with this. If you’ve been around us for more than a day, you know that we’re very passionate about this inside out game. So I encourage all of you to check into this series and look at it through the lenses that are most salient, most pertinent, and most timely for you right now.

Some of us are really exploring some of these fear stories that perhaps we received through our upbringing by mother figures or those are those who played that role for us. Others of us are looking at the strength that we were able to inculcate as children because of our mothers. There’s all kinds of ways for us to pull this back and look at, how do we expand out the archetypal role of motherhood that we all get to benefit from? And so this is going to be really yummy conversation, particularly pertinent for those of you who aren’t used to having youngsters at home all the time with you and are maybe struggling with that. Let’s be real, if we can’t be honest about some of the things that we find more challenging, then certainly we can’t have an impact on changing them. And so that’s exactly what this series is going to is going to cover.

Before I dive too deeply into some more of the details and tease that just a bit more for you, we’re going to take a quick break. When we come back from the break, I’m going to look at kind of what was the inception point for this conversation and share with you why we feel it’s very pertinent and give you some something to chew on between here and there before that series comes out.
