Spiritual Saturday

What is a Spiritual Saturday? Do you have one day in a week to take a dose off? In this episode of Reclamation, The Reclas: Justin, Tonya, and Neva talk about their family ritual called Spiritual Saturday. The Reclas designate their Saturdays to take time off from a busy week that has been. Also, this is their time to take a pause, gather themselves, and connect with the divine. Tune in and discover the importance of contemplation and reflection time alone for the spirit to communicate with God.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Hello everyone and welcome back to Reclamation. I am Tonya Dawn Recla and I have the whole family here today. We’re going to talk about Spiritual Saturday. One of my favorite topics. We started this a few years back. Part of the process when this came about was establishing the schedule in our house. You all know we do a lot of things together. We just did an episode on doing it all. We worked together, played together, learned together. There is a lot of togetherness, which is wonderful. It’s how we learn how to work in synergy together. There’s also this other component of just needing that space with each other. Like maybe in pairs, right? But also individually?

One of the things that started to become really clear was that time that we get to spend with God, time that we get to spend with spirit, time that we get to spend in our own contemplation is so incredibly crucial. It’s something that you really have to actively carve out in your existence. If you look around the world, we’re busy, right? There are a lot of distractions. So developing sacred time got to be. We got to a point where developing sacred time was incredibly crucial for our family. So we want to share with you sort of how that came about and what benefits we’re getting from it and sort of the parameters of it.

First of all, I’m going to let you hear from the other two about what Spiritual Saturday is for them. I’ll explain really quickly. So the rules are, quote-unquote, that everybody gets to wake up whenever they want to wake up, that there are no obligatory roles. We’re all kind of on equal footing and there’s no parent role or kid role. It’s more like we’re roommates sharing space. The goal of it is to just walk your walk, let spirit guide you into what to do that day, how to listen, where to go. You can make offers to other people, but without any sort of obligation, right? If you want to invite somebody to do something with you then you can, but there can be no expectation of them saying yes. Everybody gets to say, no. I’m sure I’m missing some of the points here.

So let’s talk to Neva first. So we started talking about implementing this into our weekly schedule, right, on Saturdays. What was that like for you and maybe give them kind of what your take is on it?

Neva Lee Recla

I think Spiritual Saturdays have always been kind of an evolving thing for us. It went from like a half-day thing to an all-day thing to a half-day thing with the break. We typically do Tai Chi. Or an all-day thing and then Tai Chi somehow incorporated into it and then it’s kind of optional. For me now my schedule has changed a lot with just where I’m going, who I hang out with. So my spiritual Saturday isn’t necessarily an all day thing. Typically I would end up sleeping until like two or three in the afternoon.

Justin Recla:

She would. That she would.

Neva Lee Recla

I would. It was possible, I hibernated. I think at the root of it it’s giving us all an opportunity to connect with the divine how we would like to connect with the divine. Like you were talking about, there are no obligations for who you have to be that day. We also kind of set a rule that you don’t really make requests of people. So if somebody is in their space you don’t go up and ask them to do something for you. Just kind of fend for yourself during the day.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Yeah. So we’re going to talk with Justin and his perspective on it when we come back from the break. Before we go, these are the things that we find really important in our family. This is how we support our individual walks and our collective walk with the divine. They are things that we talk about with our community members at the Superpower Universe Plus over there. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, we invite you to do that. Go to superpowerexperts.com and you can read all about it. That’s where our listeners get to gather and connect with us and learn more about these. There are masterclasses and there are ways to commune with each other and you get all of that content, but plus support and connection in that. So, go check that out. We’d love to see you there joining us. We will be right back after the break.
