What is animal harmony? Are animals magical creatures? In this episode of Reclamation, The Reclas: Tonya, Justin, and Neva talk about the enchanted animal kingdom and how we people need to live in harmony with them for us to unfurl and get a glimpse of their genuine magic. The Reclas spice up their family conversation with stories of surprises from these mystical beings. Justin shares how they welcome, converse, engage, and honor a teeny-tiny bee. They also introduce their house dog and the uncountable magic it brought to their lives. Please tune in to join The Reclas in their family chat about the wonders of animal harmony inside the Recla household.
Welcome back to the Reclamation Show. I am Justin Recla, and I’m herewith.
Tonya Dawn.
Neva Lee.
Awesome, and today we’re going to be talking about animal harmony. And so sit back, relax. I would like to take you on a magical journey of our existence in the animal kingdom inside the Recla household. All right, we’re not going to get that corny. Okay, what are we talking about here? Animal harmony. Well, our family, as in all things as we experience everything, very different than what we see others relaying back to us, and that includes our experiences with animals. And some of the experiences that we have had with animals have been nothing short of, well, fairytale right?
And as you can imagine, Tonya often goes to the backyard and does her call. I was making fun of something the other day, and she’s like, Honey, that’s the wrong princess, you’re calling fish. Apparently, I was doing Arial and not Snow White. So I didn’t know the difference, but here we are. And sure enough, we had a shark show up. But we love to play in the magic of all things, especially when it comes to animals. And we’ve had some really, really cool experiences with animals in our household, from fly infestations to bees, to wasps, where we’re going to explore some of those on today’s show. But when we’re talking about animal harmony, Neva, what, what, what does that mean for you? What is the concept of animal harmony? Where does that come into play in families and in people’s lives? What does that mean and why are we focusing on that today?
That’s a great question. I think what animal harmony means to me at least, is being able to… Something we always talk about, like seeing people as an equal, like seeing kids as an equal, but now seeing animals as equals. And I think that that’s kind of an interesting thing to think about. And we have a dog and she’s awesome, she’ll be featured on the show, stay tuned, but we get to experience miraculous things with animals all the time, but I think it’s typically overlooked because it’s just, Oh, there’s a bird over there.
So what you’re saying is that a lot of people end up taking animals for granted?
Yes. And it may be the vegetarian in me, you never know, but I think we’re able to experience animals as something miraculous and as something magical together and with them. And we’ve had amazing experiences with them, with our dog especially, she’s brought a lot of magic into our lives. And we’re able to see things that well you wouldn’t see if you weren’t looking for them because sometimes it takes looking for them to see it. And other times, it comes as a surprise and we’ve had many little animal surprises, but I think it’s the idea that we can live in harmony with nature and see the magic in everything.
Oh, I like that. And so I just want to dive into this, because as Neva mentioned, we’re actually going to bring the dog onto the show after the break, you’re going to have to stay with us because this is something that it’s going to reveal itself along the way. But I want to dive into this, because babe, some of the experiences that we’ve had with animals, and we’re going to expand that out to otherworldly creatures as well. We’ll talk more about that after the break, but your nickname in the animal kingdom is The Bee Queen, right?
Folks, this woman has been stung by bees more often than not and now she welcomes them. We go into the pool, they crawl all over her, we rescue them from the swimming pool, right? And all the environmental conversations around bees and they’re going extinct, yes, and what’s your experience been in that with The Bee Queen? How do you interact with that? How do you scope that out for people.
Well, I don’t really see the animal thing as being any different than any of the other conversations that we have all the time, because there’s a natural harmony to divine design. And when we move into harmony with it, then we do get to experience the miraculous in every moment. Not because we’re doing something magical, but because it’s always happening. And that’s what both of you were referring to, is it’s not just the seeing concept, believing has to happen first.
And so sometimes we have to be willing to jump into a space that seems otherworldly or mystical or out there to us, that we don’t really see in the projection yet. And what I mean by that is the projection can only show us what we believed yesterday. And so if we have disregarded animals, or if we don’t interact with them or they just kind of become like white noise in the background, then that’s how we continue to experience them.
It takes something, it takes a willingness to kind of go, Wait for a second, what if I choose to look at this differently? And that was the situation with the bees. I got stung once, and I remember just sitting there and thinking about the typical kind of response to bees, and the fear that’s involved and everything else. And that wasn’t my experience with it. It didn’t feel great, but when I relaxed into it, I felt the, well, what we would consider venom, but really the serum if you will. And I just started talking about, Well, maybe I’m becoming a superhero, right? Maybe it’s like Spider-man, and maybe I’m The Bee Queen and I’m going to harness these bee powers.
And even though it kind of was funny, haha, and we were just kind of going with it, it shifted everything. And everything that transpired after that was this real kind of magical invitation of what if that’s true. And I think sometimes we have to be willing to say, Would I want it to be true? Would I want to live in a world where I can have these magical experiences with animals and they’re real? Do I want to believe that there’s that potential? And for me at least, it was a resounding yes. For our family, it was a yes. And so we stepped into it and nothing short of miraculous has occurred since.
Yeah. And well on the flip side of that, because we all have incorporated that, we see a bee, we welcome it, we invite it, we converse with it, we engage with it, we honor it and-
Yeah, when he says, We save them, we literally scoop them out of the water with our hands, and hold them while they dry themselves off. And we’ve watched them dry themselves and everything.
It’s really cool.
They’re appreciative. And you just hold them. And I have beautiful pictures, real up close and personal with these bees. And then they just fly off when they’re ready. And so that’s the practice that we’ve done, and we train Neva in that way.
Exactly, and so here we’ll.
So she’ll come running out of the house, like, A bee’s in the pool.
There’s a bee in the pool.
She sees it flapping.
She dives in like it’s Baywatch and just saves the bee. No, not that dramatic.
Not Baywatch, PG.
But here’s the funny side of that, because in saving bees, Neva just automatically saw, Hey, there’s a creature in the pool.
Use your hands, scoop it out.
Use your hand to get it out. And so Neva, explain to me your experience with.
One of them. One of them.
Yeah, just one.
Yeah, because she’s had lots of great experiences.
This is the flip side on how not to do animal magic folks.
Was it a bee, is the key here. And understanding the nature of a creature is completely part of what this experience has been about. And so what was it that you rescued?
I rescued a wasp.
That actually didn’t need rescuing, let’s be very clear.
I forgot how
While she handedly removed a wasp from the position that it was wanting to hold.
Yes.
Please continue, please share what happened.
And what happened?
Okay. So in my defense, it was at the start of my school semester, so I wasn’t all that bright yet.
Yeah.
She might be a victim. You might want to go back and listen to the previous episode, Neva. I don’t know if you know that we did this.
So I may have forgotten that wasps sit and float and drink water. So that’s a key factor, folks. We were in the hot tub and everything was going great. And I look in the pool, and I see this creature and it looks like it’s flailing about. Little did I know, it probably just landed in the pool. So being me, I dive into the pool Baywatch style… Not Baywatch style, like the PG version of that. And I get in, and me being me, I didn’t think I had enough time to go get the pool rack and get it out so I use my hands and I scoop it up. And I’m looking at this wasp, it’s in my hand, and I’m like, Oh, that’s so cute. And then it starts bending over and doing a little yoga pose on my hand. And I’m walking, I’m like Here mom and dad, look, I just saved a wasp.
And I’m like, Why is my hand stinging all of a sudden, and why is its face in my hand? Their stingers in their face, right? Yeah. Nope? Maybe?
We’ll do anatomy later.
We’ll do anatomy later. But it’s in some kind of yoga pose, and I’m like, Why is it stinging? And I look down and I’m like, Oh, it’s stinging me.
So repeatedly.
Repeatedly.
Repeatedly. And I don’t want to drop it so I get towards our hot tub, and I’m walking around and it’s stinging me. I’m crying because it hurts so bad, and it’s stinging me and it keeps singing to me. And I’m walking over and I’m crying and I want to protect it, so I put my hand around it and it stings that hand, and it keeps stinging me. And it’s just repetitive. And I’m looking down at the wasp, I’m breaking down in tears because of how much it hurts, both parents are yelling at me, Neva put the wasp down.
And some, I crouched down and I lightly let it off my hand, and it stings me as it’s leaving. I’m breaking down crying. I’m like, I just wanted to be your friend.
She looks at us with this devastating look, like the wasp just betrayed her trust.
And then it just goes and glares at me with its little wasp eyes and continues on its way. I’m breaking down crying, like, Dude, I had thought we had a connection, and it stung me like 20 times.
Well. And all I’m hearing in my head is that childhood song, right? But you survived.
Did I?
And I.
That’s not talking about the after-effects of what happened.
My guesstimation is it was probably one of the best night sleeps that you had.
I started seeing things I didn’t know I could see, folks. I went inside and I’m walking, and I’m walking like a drunk person. I’m just like, Whoa.
She got to experience it.
She had a wasp trip.
She had a wasp trip.
I’m seeing colors all around, it was fun.
Awesome. So we’re going to take a quick break right here because when we get back, we’re going to dive into some bigger animals as we continue to explore animal harmony.
