New Ways to Reduce Stress

Do you want to find new ways to reduce stress? In this episode of Incorporating Superpowers, host Justin Recla and guest Brandon Nolte talk about an unusual way to remove stress. Brandon is the founder and creator of Stello Mints, a cannabidiol-based (CBD) product that changes consumers’ views on CBD usage. These mints are made of broad-spectrum cannabinoids found in hemp plants grown in the US. During the manufacturing process, the company ensures to remove the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Tune in to hear Brandon’s story of why he established Stello Mints and his experiences and journey with CBD.

Justin Recla:

Welcome back to Incorporating Superpowers. This has been a fantastic week. And if you are listening, that means you’re either in business or an entrepreneur, or always looking for new and better ways of doing things. And going to the nine to five grind, even if you have a job, this show is for you, because this shows all about finding new ways to reduce stress. And my guest today is Brandon Nolte. He is the founder and CEO of Stello Mints. They’ve got a really cool new technology that infuses CBD into mints that allows you to reduce your stress. Now, Brandon, first off and foremost, welcome to the show.

Brandon Nolte:

Thank you. Yeah, it’s a pleasure being here.

Justin Recla:

This is good stuff. I love the fact that you are doing something completely different, right? Because when I know for me, when I pick a CBD, I don’t think of mints. I know the power of CBD and whatnot, but how did you come to the conclusion of like, hey, let’s put CBD into a mint, and get that out to the masses. What was your backstory on that?

Activate Your Superpowers

Brandon Nolte:

Yeah, so briefly I’ve been in the CBD space for about eight or nine years now, and I had a previous business that was a retail store where we sold various CBD products, including everything that you would normally see. Vaporizers, capsules, topicals, and other sorts of ingestibles, like gummies. And what I discovered over the years was that most people either fell in one or two categories. You kind of either knew about CBD and you liked it and you would use it, and you would put up with the fact that it was kind of medicinal looking and feeling. Or you kind of couldn’t get over that hump. And for a lot of people, I think that turned people off to CBD products because it was still burgeoning back then. And so what I wanted to do with my partner, Tyler, was to create something that was really unique, more fun and more casual, and something that could be used, and would feel normal out in daily life, whether you’re out at a restaurant or hanging out with friends. And so, we decided to create a format that we thought was underutilized, and actually was the perfect delivery for stress wherever you need it.

Justin Recla:

I like that because having a CBD in the form of mint that you can just keep in your pocket or the ladies can keep the purse, is it’s easy. It’s a go-to. You don’t have to think about it. It doesn’t have that medicinal feel to it. It doesn’t have that… It’s discreet, right? It’s obvious you’re not puffing on a pen. You’re not reaching for a medicine bottle or anything like that. So it keeps it nice and discreet, which I think there’s a lot of people that still equate CBD with marijuana in all of the societal constructs around what marijuana use is and is not.

Brandon Nolte:

Yeah, exactly. And I have a quick story about that.

I’ve told you I’ve been in the industry for quite a while. And when I started, my parents weren’t so approving, shall we say. I kind of thought that my parents thought I was a drug dealer. That was kind of like what they thought was happening. And the reality is that CBD just is very different in effect from THC. And the product that we sell is made with industrial hemp. So it’s not even a marijuana-based product. So, these are things I grew to help people educate, help educate people on what they could choose for themselves, whether it was right or not. But you’re right, there is a lot of stigma around these types of products. And part of the reason why we wanted to create this kind of fun brand was to make something that seemed not like a typical cannabis product. No tie dyes, no weird smoking symbolism, or names or anything. Just something fun.

Justin Recla:

No Bob Marley. No.

Brandon Nolte:

Yeah. I love Bob Marley, but no Bob Marley on the tin. Exactly.

Justin Recla:

Yeah. I love that because I think there’s a lot of misinformation, misunderstanding out there as to what CBD is, CBD isn’t, and so forth. And while the medicinal properties, and of medical marijuana is huge. Really, it boils down to our bodies are systems, and our systems are designed to use the cannabinoids, the CBD right. In hemp, in marijuana plants and I think there’s a lot of… Well, there’s a lot of lack of education as to what the human cannabinoid system is. So just for our listeners’ sake here, for those that may not be familiar with CBD, and what it’s used for, can you kind of give a little backdrop as to why somebody might want to consider using CBD?

Brandon Nolte:

Yeah, absolutely. So there’s quite a range depending on the quantity of CBD that you take. But I would say, on the smaller serving size, which may range from maybe two to three to about five milligrams, you are typically looking at an increase, like an overall lift in mood, typically from a reduction in stress or anxiousness. And as you scale that, milligram percentage up 20, 40, 60, it’s more helpful for the pain side of things. So what we really wanted to do with Stello was to create something that was very easy to kind of modulate how much you need. And so there are only five milligrams per mint, which makes it perfect if you’re a lightweight and you only need a little bit to take something to just take the edge off. But a typical use case would be you’re feeling kind of stressed at work and you have these in your purse or on the desk and you pop some before a meeting that you might feel anxious about. If I was nervous about public speaking, this interview with you would be a perfect time to take one. Sometimes I do that. And it’s really meant to be a tool that is very subtle to be there, to just kind of help give you that lift when you need it and not to be overbearing.

Justin Recla:

I agree. I agree. I’ve used CBD for years and it is pure, pure magic in my books. By all means, I’m not an expert in CBD or cannabis, but what about the head high? I know that’s quite I understand it, I know how it works. A lot of people get confused with, well, if I take CBD, does that mean I’m going to feel drunk? Or am I going to feel high?

Brandon Nolte:

Yeah. It is a different feeling I will say. And that’s kind of one of the reasons why we encourage people to try it out, and test it out first, because if you’re not used to kind of how it feels, sometimes you might actually miss it. If you’re not aware of how your body is feeling and responding to the substance, it’s like most supplements, it just feels different.

And so the way I would describe CBD for me, and for most people is on the smaller side of things, it’s kind of akin to taking maybe half a beer in terms of its subtlety. So, without the inebriation effect. So there’s just like a general slowing down. There’s no head high per se. There are no distortions or anything, but there is a subtle calming effect that if you pay attention, you can notice. And so, that’s one of the things if you’re trying this product or other products, I would encourage people to try to take it when you are not doing a ton of things, even though that may be when you want to try to take it, only because some people often miss the fact that it was working for them because they were just so busy. And only upon reflection, they’re able to see that. So it’s confusing if you haven’t had the experience before.

Justin Recla:

Oh, good. And I want to dive down that rabbit hole a little bit farther about new ways to reduce stress on the back end of the break here because I think it’s extremely important to visit for those who haven’t even tried CBD, but to just kind of like bounce it off of what’s the difference between CBD and taking a Tylenol? But we’re going to dive down that rabbit hole right after the break, but before we do, Brandon, where can people go find more information about you and Stello Mints?

Brandon Nolte:

Yeah. So we’ve got a website, it’s stellomints.com. You can check us out there. It’s stellomints.com. And if you’d like to check out a free sample, we’ve got some free samples for people to try. Very small amounts, small servings to see if it works for you before you consider.

Justin Recla:

Fantastic. Folks, I highly, highly recommend that you go take a look at this product. I’ve had some really cool conversations with both Brandon and Tyler, and they’re doing good in the world. And they’re wanting to make a huge impact and a big change. This is a phenomenal way of delivering that CBD medicine for people that need some assistance with reducing stress and pain. This of new ways to reduce stress is phenomenal. Stay tuned, we’ll be right back.
