Eternity Unfolding As Us

Do you believe that eternity is slowly unfolding as us? Is it true that we are reality itself evolving? In this episode of Wisdom of Ages, host Ayn Cates Sullivan and guest Mark Whitwell talk about the actual health crisis right now and how important it is that we must care for ourselves, our families, our culture, and the Earth. They also shared how humanity is going through an inevitable evolution. Tune in and listen to remember the truth of who we are.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Welcome friends and mystical travelers. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan, host of Wisdom of the Ages and today I have a real treat for you. We’re going to welcome in an entirely new year, lifetime, epoch, with my dear friend and guest Mark Whitwell. He’s the Heart of Yoga.

So, Mark, I understand I’m requesting that you step out of Samadhi. I don’t know, maybe you can speak from the place of Samadhi, but is it possible?

Mark Whitwell:

Beautiful. Well, I’m so happy to be here and see you again. And I love what you’re doing. I love this name, Wisdom of the Ages because that’s what it’s all about. It’s about human wisdom and surely it was established in the treasured cultures of our ancient people.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Well, you probably were one of the people from our previous podcast that actually went up into the mountains in the Himalayas and rediscovered the heart of yoga and brought it back to the West. So, thank you for bringing us the wisdom of the ages.

Mark Whitwell:

We did that pilgrimage just before the world closed down. I was very happy to go to the abode where Krishnamacharya, our yoga teacher, studied with his teachers and this treasured wisdom flourished for a thousand years from the fifth century to the 14th century and then disappeared from the public’s view. And it got pushed into isolation into the mountains in Himalaya. And Krishnamacharya was this extraordinary scholar of religion, of the Vedas. He spent 11 years in the universities of Varenyas and then he needed yoga because his own people, his own ancient lineage, were telling him that yoga was needed to join the two to become one. The beauty of Verdante, of Advite, is that there is only light. There is only God. There is the only reality in this cosmos. That is what there is. We are that.

And that was established by a great teacher called Adi Shankaracharya, the first speaker of Vedanta, but then a few hundred years after that came along another great Acharya called Ramanujacharya and he’s saying, yes, there is only God. There is only light. There is the only reality. However, this mind is tricky. The mind that has evolved into the human species is a tricky monster. It is a drunken monkey, this mind. And we need yoga. And what is yoga? Yoga is participation in the union of opposites. The opposites are in a union, otherwise, they wouldn’t be opposites. The two are one, you see? He made the statement in the 10th century, that yoga is needed to join the two to be in the one reality. That is all. That is all light. Now that yoga flourished for a thousand years, it’s impossible to imagine even us mortals. Like, what’s a thousand years? My goodness.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Right?

Mark Whitwell:

Alone, what’s a million or a billion years. There’s eternity unfolding as this moment, as these bodies. And I think it’s good for us all to have that perspective of let’s all please see the long term view.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Right? This is really important, Mark, because I think once we really get that we are eternal beings, the fact that there’s a little odd play going on right now doesn’t matter all that much. But I do have to stop for an ad break. So, what I want you to do is tell us in one minute about your podcast, because I have been enjoying these podcasts so much. I think right now is the time we’re in, it’s really important to go in and just listen to these really upbeat conversations, and so just tell us a little bit about the Heart of Yoga podcast.

Mark Whitwell:

Thanks for that opportunity. So heartofyoga.com, this is the non-brand brand of yoga, as we call it. Heart of yoga. And we really mean that, actually. The heart of yoga. It’s not a brand name, it’s a generic word, the heart of yoga. So we have a podcast on heartofyoga.com and it’s been wonderful as a vehicle of this teaching, knowledge, and distribution to the public. And it’s the best thing we ever did so that people can just listen to us chatting and hear all kinds of people from all around the world talking about their life and their yoga practice and get the perspective from this global village. That we’re this obvious unity condition that is the mother earth. That is the globe that we live on.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

I’m going to have to take this break talking about eternity unfolding as us, but I enjoyed listening to a Christian woman, and someone from China. Okay. So stay tuned. Everybody will be right back.
