Everybody, this is your host, Justin Recla. Today my guest is doing some really cool things in the world. We’re talking today with Jackie Lapin on how to fast track your growth as a speaker. What Jackie is doing in this arena is phenomenal. Her business and her business partner are always sending us guests for our podcast shows. I’m super excited to get a little sneak behind the veil and look behind the curtain, as to how you can leverage Jackie’s service on getting yourself booked out there and really start really too fast track your growth as a speaker. So Jackie, welcome to the show today.

I’m delighted to be here, Justin, thank you for inviting me.

Yeah, Jackie and I, we haven’t actually met physic… Well, I think we met one time at an event out in San Diego, but it was very brief. We’ve been kind of circling around each other for the last three or four years and we’re finally connecting in this space and I’m super excited cause we’re going to meet up at a CEO Space in December and we’re going to be creating a lot of magic together. We’re continuing to do so. Matter of fact, there’s just so much synergy here. It’s super exciting and I’m excited for Jackie to share her knowledge and how you can leverage what she’s doing in the world to grow your business as a speaker. So Jackie, talk to me about what you’re seeing in the industry right now that people need to be paying attention to.

Well, Justin, my mission is to help people get booked in one way or another. What we’re seeing is the fact that people are not taking advantage of all the stages that are out there for them. They’re sitting around rooms complaining to their speaker trainers and their platform building instructors, “I don’t know where to find my speaking engagements.” And that’s what’s stopping them. They’re just not going out there and doing it. Then they complain, “Well, I haven’t gotten enough clients and my business isn’t growing fast enough.” And there’s a really simple answer. The more people you get in front of, the more people that are going to avail themselves of your services. So it’s really a matter of putting yourself in places where people will meet you, love you, and follow you.

Yeah. Fast track It’s the concept of exposure, right? And I get it. If you’re a speaker and you’ve got a project or you’re a coach, you may not necessarily know where to go and look to get yourself booked. It can be complicated. There’s so much information out there as to who do you work with? Where do you go? How do you do it? Should you do it on your own? Should you use a survey? It can be overwhelming. So I think what happens is, I think a lot of coaches, a lot of speakers will just freeze and they get stuck, so they’re not continuing to grow. What I love about it is I mean I think our business and our managers get probably two or three emails a week from your team saying, “Hey, I got a speaker. Hey, I got somebody that’s going to be a great fit for your podcast and we’re getting that information.” So that’s what I love about one of your services is that you do that for your clients.

So talk to me, what does your ideal client look like? Who should be connecting with you and what questions should they bring you when they connect?

Well, we actually have two and one of them is people with a book and the other one, it’s just people who need to get in front of audiences to grow their business. But they’re both usually in service to humanity in some way, shape or form. They’re doing something that improves people’s lives. They might even be selling insurance, but they’re doing it from a standpoint of service and helping people. So what we’ve done is basically eliminated that problem of where do I find it? How can I get there? Because so many, as we’ve discussed, are lost. So we’re trying to save people the effort to go out and locate these opportunities. It’s our feeling that there are a lot of people out there who are keynoters and we’re not serving the keynoters of the world from a speaker standpoint because they have people who are looking after them, the speaker’s bureaus, et cetera, et cetera.

We’re serving everybody else because the problem is that so many of the people who acted as their agents where you could hire somebody to go out and represent you, they don’t exist. You were asking what’s happening in the business? Those people have all, to a large extent, disappeared. So what we decided is why don’t we just tell people where those opportunities are, give them the contacts and let them do it themselves. That’s half of our business, which is what Speakertunity is all about. The other half that you’ve been mentioning is the fact that you get pitches from us is our Conscious Media Relations side of the business and that’s where we do it for people. We don’t book them for speaking gigs, but what we do is offer them to 9,000 radio shows and podcasts just like yours. Fast track 

And so with the radio podcast tour that we do under the Conscious Media Relations brand, I read the book and it’s usually best done with a book, although that’s not the exclusive way. It just seems to be the most common way people come to us. We read the book, write the pitch and send it to all those 9,000 and then book a minimum of 30 interviews, which is our guarantee on our top two programs. So we do it in different ways depending on how much work a person wants to do, how much work they want us to handle and what their budget is. So that has been our signature service for 10 years. And a little about my backstory is I started out as one of the first women’s sports writers in America, worked at the Detroit Free Press, the Associated Press, the front pages of the LA Times and the Washington Post before I was 22, went on to have one of the largest special events sports PR agencies in America.

You might have recognized some of my clients, Toyota Motor Sports, Golf Channel, Seagram’s, Showtime and the last thing I did was watch the worldwide poker phenomena with the World Poker Tour. Then I wrote a couple of books on personal growth and the media had changed. It wasn’t any fun anymore. So I thought, why don’t I simply serve the conscious messengers of the world, the people that are doing good things? And so that’s what we rebranded as Conscious Media Relations. I committed myself to that. So that was about 10 years ago and we’ve been doing the radio tours ever since then.

I absolutely love it. This is why I love just connecting with you in this space because you’ve been through the gamut of information dissemination and how it works and how you connect with people, right? There are so many people out there that have a great message that are having an impact and they can expand their impact. They just don’t know how to get that reach. That’s how Super Power Experts were created. It was, let’s help those people create an impact and have that impact. So I love the fact that you started over here and you’re like, you’re here because you saw the problems, saw the niche, you saw the fact that these people aren’t being served and they don’t know how to do it. And you solved that for them. It’s the basic level of service of being in service to others and helping them get what they want and most coaches, most speakers, most people who have a message, the light workers, the people who’ve had an awakening, who’ve written a book, whatever, right?
