Hi there.

… he was a professional basketball player, and he owns a company that teaches youth leadership, correct?

Yeah, that’s fine, we provide …

All right, so without further ado, will you help me welcome our guest, Peter Gold Ezugwu. Hi Peter.

Young Entrepreneur Secrets with Neva Lee Recla

Hi, how are you?

I’m amazing, how are you?

Doing very well, I’m so proud and excited to be on your show.

Thank you, I’m super excited to have you.

Yes.

Today we’ll be talking about teaching kids about business.

Okay.

So Peter, what are your superpowers?

One of my main superpowers is that I like to be nice to people

One of my main superpowers is that I like to be nice to people.

My superpowers, I think one of my main superpowers is that I like to be nice to people, and so when I’m nice to people, I get them to smile, so that’s the superpower that I have that works pretty well in the world.

That’s awesome. Being nice to people is definitely a good power to have.

Yeah, I think when I was a kid, I imagined that I could fly, and I quickly found out that I couldn’t when I jumped out the window and just dropped to the floor.

Interesting, I’ve had dreams where I could fly and then I woke up and I was sad that it wasn’t a reality.

Yes. The key there is you woke up. Maybe one day, who knows?

One day, yup.

If anybody can do it, you can.

A plane is the closest I’ve ever got probably.

Me too.

So you’re a superhero and I’m a superhero, want to do a pose? A superhero pose?

Yeah, what’s yours?

This is mine. Like I’m flying.

Nice. Mine is … That pretty good?

Okay.

I don’t know if my face is scrunched up like that, but I felt superhero-y.

Superhero-y. Peter and I both met at Dave Cogan’s interview area where my Mom and Dad and I were going there ’cause my Mom was being interviewed, remember?

Yup, I remember on the Hero’s Radio Show.

Yup, it was really fun there.

Yeah, it was fun.

Yeah. Actually I was watching when David interviewed you on YouTube.

Yes. Yes. It’s up there, I feel honored to be in the company of some of those people, there’s a lot of great people including yourself. So that was a fun interview, very fun interview, not as fun as this one, but it was close.

When did you know that you wanted to start doing basketball?

I want to play basketball in college

I want to play basketball in college.

When I was younger, I grew up in Europe, in London, and we didn’t have a lot of basketball, but I grew really tall, so I was playing all the other sports. I was playing rugby, soccer, tennis, and everything else apart from basketball, and then the coach said, “Why don’t you try basketball?” And I really liked it, and from then, I said you know what; I want to play basketball in college. And so I came to the States in high school, and the rest is history. I just liked it and it allowed me to get taller and stronger and I really enjoyed playing. It was something that for me was natural.

I like that. That’s awesome. I know that you can speak five different languages, is that correct?

Yeah, I speak Italian, Spanish, a little French, English, and a little Igbo, which is Nigerian language, yeah.

Yeah, which one is your favorite to speak?

That’s a good question. It’s probably Italian because I get to speak it a lot because my business partners are in Italy, so I get to talk to them in Italian, and that’s really fun. So (foreign language) I said, “I’m happy that I’m here doing an interview with you, I would love to do an interview with you every day.”

Aw, that’s awesome. I don’t know how much Italian I have, but I know that part of my blood is Italian.

Good, yeah. Awesome. Are you learning other languages in school? I mean do you … are you being taught any languages?

I do my, I have a tutor that teaches me Spanish. She only speaks English to me when she’s giving me homework. It’s actually a superpower expert.

Muy bien. (foreign language)I said, “The next time we do an interview, we can do it in Spanish”, okay?

Cool. Si. She does Spanish, she’s Angel Maria, and she’s also one of our very good friends.

Awesome. Muy bien.

Gracias. So we have to take a quick break. We’ve been talking with Peter “Gold” Ezugwu about teaching kids about business. We’ll be right back.
