Amorahki: Hello beautiful beings! Welcome back to another episode of Superpowers of the Soul. I’m your host, Amorahki Kimberlee Fenn, and I am so happy to be inside this powerfully inspiring episode all about the power of passion with our incredible guest, Jorden Halvorsen.
Jorden is a 28-year-old female bull rider. Yes, you heard me right, a bull rider! A bull rider who has, so far, won two world championships. It has not been the easiest road, however, along the way to fulfilling her dreams. Jorden almost lost her life in a bull riding accident in 2020. It was during this darkest time in her life that she experienced God showing her that she had a much bigger purpose than she realized and giving her the passion to continue chasing her dream, even after almost losing her life. Can you imagine?
Today she is a fierce advocate for the power of passion, and she shares her story in the hopes of inspiring others that whatever their passion may be, do not be afraid to get after it; no matter what that entails! She is an extremely brave and motivating woman, really dedicated to her desire to be a positive light in the world. I’m so excited she’s here and I’m very eager to hear her story in full. Jorden Halvorsen: I’m happy to be here!
Amorahki: Well, I’m so delighted and I must say that I for one am very keen to hear more of your story, because the bits and pieces I’ve already heard kind of give me chills. So, I’m very excited to hear the whole thing, but before we get deep into it, I’m just so curious: where on earth did this amazing desire of yours to ride bulls originally come from?!
Jorden Halvorsen: I mean, to be completely honest with you, it was never on my radar to be a female bull rider. I had just tried it one time to just kind of mark it off my bucket list and to say I did it because I didn’t know very many people that had rode a bull. I wanted to be one of those people at that time in my life, to say that I had at least rode one, and then I fell in love and continued to try to be better at it.
Amorahki: How old were you when you had that first experience?
Jorden Halvorsen: I was 17 when I got on my first one. I wasn’t technically even supposed to ride because my parents were definitely not going to let me! I really started chasing the dream after I graduated high school in 2013.
Amorahki: Wow, that is incredible. So, you go to cross this thing off your bucket list you just want to be one of these fairly rare people to have ridden a bull and you get on and what did you fall in love with?
Jorden Halvorsen: At first, I fell off super quick and I kind of thought to myself, ‘I know I can stay on this thing a lot longer than that!’ It was like less than two seconds. And I just kind of fell in love with learning about the sport as a whole because there’s so many misconceptions about bull riding and I just kind of fell in love with the whole process. With the animals, what goes into taking care of them, I just fell in love with it, along with the process of getting better and being good at the sport.
Amorahki: Wow, absolutely exquisite. What is the longest you’ve stayed on a bull?
Jorden Halvorsen: So, you only have to stay on for eight seconds. That’s kind of the max time. I’ve been on bulls and rode them for longer than that kind of by accident, but it’s only required to stay on for eight seconds.
Amorahki: Incredible. I bet that journey from two seconds to eight seconds feels a lot longer than it is!
Jorden Halvorsen: Eight seconds is a lot longer than you think!
Amorahki: Amazing. Well, Jorden, from falling in love so deeply at such a young age for something that was just something you were crossing off your bucket list, to the deep conviction and dedication and being lit up from within is what we are going to get into in just a moment after the break.
