Paving the Way for Your Kids to Change the World
How can you pave the way for your kids to change the world? In this episode of Reclamation, The Reclas: Justin, Tonya, and Neva revolve their conversation around the most significant role of parents – to forge change makers and leaders. As a parent, you get to ensure the preservation of your legacy and the success of your young ones. Thus, the Reclas will elaborate on why parents should set the stepping stones for their children. Tune in to know how you should be paving the way for your kids to change the world as parents.
Tonya Dawn Recla:Â
Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Reclamation. I’m here with my awesome parents. And today we’re going to be talking about something that I think they’ve done quite well if I do say so myself, not to pat them on the back or myself on the back. Today we’re going to be talking all about paving the way for your kids to change the world. My show Leave It To Neva was just recently launched and the episodes aren’t out yet, they probably will be by the time this airs, but the three episodes I’ve recorded so far have kind of talked about that. The whole point behind Leave It To Neva is kind of like how especially young leaders can take the steps today for a better tomorrow.
And I think one of the biggest roles in that is what our parents do to help us do so because I certainly want to be where I am today if my parents hadn’t given me the opportunities to change the world in my own way. That’s what we’re going to be talking about today. This is going to be quite fun I think. So before we go into a break, dad, I want to throw it to you. Why do you think it’s so important for parents to kind of put the stepping stones in place for their kids?
Justin Recla:
Well, there are a lot of reasons. The first is that it’s the best thing you do to ensure your children are successful. I’m sure we can dive into that even further on the back end of the conversation about what that means. But two, it’s also a way of securing your own legacy by passing on elements of yourself to your children. It’s how you get to live on in others, especially your children. And I think that as parents, taking personal responsibility for that is probably one of the greatest gifts God has ever given us, is to nurture, raise, model, mentor, and guide our children.
And I think we’ve lost some of that in society with technology and public school systems and everything that exists, that parents advocate something outside of themselves, something outside of God. And I know for me, the important thing is being able to show and model for you everything that I’ve learned along the way in the 40 years that my parents got me on the path of that I then took what they gave me and I did more with it. And then passing that on to you so you can then go on and do more with it yourself.
Tonya Dawn Recla:Â
Yeah, I like that. It’s kind of like a domino effect. I think a lot of the times when it comes to almost what I see energetically in some parents is when it comes to putting those stepping stones down for their kids, it’s almost like they’re hesitant to do it because it means that their kid is going to like grow up eventually.
Justin Recla:
Spoiler alert.
Tonya Dawn Recla:Â
We do it. I mean, I think every adult is listening, unless you’re like some super cute, and that would be really cool. Come talk to us if you managed to like, skip childhood, that would be pretty cool, but just skipping different phases in your life. But so far to my knowledge, that is not possible. And so everybody, every adult listening has probably grown up at some point. And maybe not energetically. Maybe you’re still a kid at heart, but I think a lot of the time when it comes to the ripples that people make in the world because everybody has their own section in the ocean. We get to make our own waves and our own splashes. And they ripple out as far as we want them to. I think it can sometimes be a scary thing for some parents to look at how big their children’s ripples are going to be in the world.
So on that note, we’re going to go into a quick break before we dive into this topic even more. If you are wanting a community that will help you make your ripples in the ocean, you see what I did there? That was so good.
Neva Lee Recla:
Beautiful analogy.
Tonya Dawn Recla:Â
Thank you. Then come join our community. We are here to love and support you fully for who you are, and we’re here while you figure out what waves you want to make. And as you continue to make them, we’re going to swim right alongside you. And I really love that analogy today. We’re going to play off of that, folks. So stay tuned. We’ll be right back. We’ve been talking all about paving the way for your children to your kids to change the world.
