Self freedom is cherishing every moment of your life, but have you heard that you can actually feel and achieve it through Tolteca? The Tolteca way to freedom, as a way of healing, is the theme of the interview where Richard Gomez joins HFH host AngelaMarίa to share his journey on the Tolteca path. This began with his father who taught him to love and appreciate nature. The root grew into further teachings from his elders from whom he has learned everything from working with the Cholq’ij (Sacred Mayan Calendar) to energy work. Listen in to hear how Richard’s hope is that through the teachings of the elders, he can assist his fellow men and women to realize their true self.

I invite you to enjoy this time together. So, here we go. Please let’s welcome Richard Gomez to my show today. We will be talking about the Tolteca way to freedom. His journey on the Tolteca path began with his father who taught him to love and appreciate nature. This root grew into further teachings from his elders from who he has learned everything from working with the Tzolkin, the Sacred Mayan Calendar to energy work. His hope is that through the teachings of the elders, he can assist his fellow men and women to realize their true self. I love that. We’re going to have more time to discuss the true self. So, please join me to welcome Richard Gomez to my show today. Hello, Richard.

Hello, AngelaMaría. So good to be here.

How are you?

Very good. Thank you. Let me first say and a deep gratitude to my ancestors and elders and a great, deep gratitude to yourself and the Creator for allowing me to be here and express whatever’s in my heart this morning.

No. I open my heart and I receive that gratitude, and I really hope that together, with our energies being one today, we can touch a lot of hearts who are ready for a different kind of information of love and wisdom in their lives. So, let’s just start this conversation asking you, Richard, what’s your healing superpower?

Yeah. If we can call it a superpower is my commitment to the way, to the ways of my ancestors, to the way of my elders. I think when a person goes all in on something, when they go all the way, this is what made me move my family to Mexico for a year to be on the path, to let go of the security of a full-time job. I believe that that is my power. There’s a lot of tools that I have, but my ability to go for it, to put all my chips at the center of the table and see where it goes, that’s what’s opened up the space. It’s a commitment to my craft, to the discipline. I think that’s one of the things that’s missing for or the way we do things because everything is so perishable, so disposable, so that deep roots, these deep commitments, these deep intentions, they’re not being put out there. I think that’s what it takes if we want to find this freedom that we’re looking for. So, I hope that is the way.

I hope, Richard. Beautiful. I just love, first, the peace and the love that I can feel in your voice but also how deep is this healing superpower because it’s just opening up a space from that energy, that root of your elders and your ancestors to be open, to be able to open up the space for that ability to surrender and that people can be in touch with their energy.

We were discussing before this interview, I was sharing with Richard, like part of my journey right now here with my husband, and I believe that is so important that we can really open up that space. If we can be in contact with somebody who energetically helps us to open up that space of surrender and just let go and be in peace and trust that everything is okay, oh my God, Richard. That is invaluable. There is no money that could pay for that. I honor you for doing that because I don’t think it’s easy, but it’s your healing superpower. We’re going to talk more about how opening up that space really heals because maybe somebody who’s listening may say, “That’s kind of woo-woo. How come just opening up a space heals?” We are going to talk more about it.

So, Richard, I love because you’re talking about elders. You are talking about ancestors. So, will you please take us back to your early years and name one memorable life lesson that is useful for you today?

Yeah. One thing I can … It’s maybe not even one thing. It’s just a long period. I grew up on a 15 acres in Encinitas, San Diego. Being out there alone because my dad, who introduced me to nature, would allow me to just go off on my own, and I could see the way the wind was moving the trees. I could see the hawks and the foxes and see the changing of the seasons. There was a pond there that would fill up with water every winter. Just to see the movement and the circle and the way that out there in nature, which is really what we are, there is no struggle. There is no effort. There are no steps. So, whenever I get confused about things, I can not only return to nature, but I can return to those memories of true freedom beyond any concepts, beyond any ideas. I would say those are memories that had changed me, molded me that this way is actually very simple, and it’s counter to the complexities that we see out here and that we grow into an adulthood. This is a very simple way, just to observe. It’s part of the Tolteca Way.

Richard, while you were talking, I would like to ask you for permission, and I’m going to invite all our listeners if you’re not driving, of course. If you are not driving and you are at home, I’m going to invite them to close your eyes and visualize yourself in nature. I want you to join us, Richard and I, in this conversation, but I want you to listen to the ears of nature and just be there. Just take a deep breath. Visualize yourself in that space in nature, ocean, mountains, a forest, the mountain and a little river. Just connect with the view, the sound, the weather, the sounds of the animals. Just be there, and join us in this conversation from nature about the Tolteca Way.

Nature heals, and the only thing we need to do is just be there and surrender. I know that word. We listen to that word a lot. I got to the point once when I … Of course, everybody already knows that English is my second language. I remember I told my husband, “I’m so tired. Everybody is telling me to surrender.” I couldn’t find a word similar to surrender with the same energy and meaning that it has in English because it’s not give up. It’s not ignoring. It’s just surrender, like just put yourself in the hands of something else that is more powerful and more loving than you are, and let’s keep on talking, Richard.

Richard, where can people go to find out more about you?

They can go to my website. So, it’s urbantoltec.com. Yeah, just how it sounds, by the way.

Okay.
