Then There Were Two

In this episode of the Apple Flavored Pomegranate, called “then there were two,” Justin and Tonya Dawn Recla share their love through poetry. The two dive into Atticus Poetry and discuss how our words paint a picture of our feelings towards others we are in a relationship with. They show how when you are in a relationship, you get to find a healthy balance with the other person as you go on your journey in oneness. Tonya and Justin share their story of finding their balance together. Tune in as they take a deep dive into the topic then there were two!

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Apple Flavored Pomegranate. I’m here with my lovely husband, Justin.

Justin Recla:

Hello.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Beautiful. Today we’re talking about Then There Were Two. In our last episode, In The Beginning, we laid the foundation, right? Sort of took you on a journey back. Way back to really a lot of the dimensions and spaces and frequencies that we’ve dreamt into in this whole coupling journey. Specifically our coupling journey toward oneness together. That was the commitment Justin and I made to each other. And in that episode, we started painting the picture that we play a lot in the Adam and Eve story and the creation story. That’s really in our shared history and so it was a great framework for us to dive into these matters together.

Again, whether you believe in an Adam and Eve story or not, if you’re familiar with it, chances are good it has informed how you view relationships. How you view yourself, how you view God, the nature of God, the nature of the world, the nature of humans. And so all of these various things we believe play out in a very subconscious way in our programming if we’ve been touched by that story. And many of us have. We’re not holding it up as gospel truth, other than for us, it was a beautiful mechanism to use, a framework to use to sort of journey into depths of ourselves, and depths of each other, and depths of relating that were really powerful for us. Wouldn’t you say?

Justin Recla:

Well, for my experiences it was a shared construct that we were able to dive into together and we found bits and pieces of ourselves in it. And we also found ourselves in other stories as well.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

That’s right.

Justin Recla:

The story and all those other aspects that we find ourselves in. But it was a shared construct that we saw that expands the masses. There’s no escaping it. It’s there in our social consciousness and our subconscious conscious level that we have taken that in. And so for us, it created this whole new vivid space for us to explore ourselves. The internal work that you’ve done in yourself, the internal work that I’ve done in myself, but it gave us a place to come in together to explore in a, okay what does that mean from the relationship side?

Tonya Dawn Recla:

It was like a shared software program.

Justin Recla:

Exactly.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Or a shared video game that we both could relate to. And so anyway, so since we started this show, Justin and I’ve really been playing with how do we bring this creative element? Our family’s really enjoying the Dickinson series on Apple and mostly the creative way that they brought her poetry to life. Just this real kind of soft, rounded-out beautiful experience. And in this container, it’s really important that it is a nice, healthy balance of the feminine and the masculine and how they danced together.

And shout out to our eldest daughter, Danica, who turned us on to Atticus Poetry. And we thought, what would be kind of fun is that the container for the episode was something that I sort of crafted. I saw the vision for the title. And in response, Justin was looking through which one is it? One of the books.

Justin Recla:

Love Her Wild by Atticus.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

And what he did was he went through it. I don’t know what it is and he chose a poem to read before we cut to the break, that represents sort of how he’s holding today’s topic. And we thought it’d be cool to share that way. Go for it, babe.

Justin Recla:

All right. This is page 48 on Love Her Wild by Atticus. “And the boy told the girl that he would love her forever and she smiled and said, ‘But one day we both will die.’ ‘Maybe,’ said the boy, ‘but I want to still try.'”

Tonya Dawn Recla:

You know why I love this man. Beautiful. So we’re going to cut to a break. We’re talking today all about Then There Were Two. And as a reminder, go check out our community, SuperPower Experts.
