Tune in to today’s episode to learn more about how we can spread the good news with pure love.

Hey everyone, this is your Super Power Kid, Neva Lee Recla. I am so excited, and I mean so, so excited for today’s conversation. We’re going to be talking all about spreading the good word and this is something I talk about a little bit on my show because, as most of you know, I’m spiritual and Christian. It’s kind of weird that you can do both, but you totally can, and you can spread the good word. As I say, you’re a leader and just spread that love and light that is so precious and so amazing onto the world with everything that you do.

And that is what our guest does so perfectly, and we get to talk to her today. Her name is Ashley Palmer. She used to be my Church Coach for fifth and sixth grade at CCV. We work with each other within Super Power Experts and along in worship at church, and she is one, just so awesome and so fun.

But she’s also assumed to be a Podcaster on this network for the We Rise Channel. She is so awesome. She literally worked at Disney. She graduated high school at the age of 16, and she’s just so fun and so awesome. She’s like a grown-up version of me, and I’m so excited to talk with her. So without further ado, let me welcome our guest, Ashley. Join me. How are you?

I’m good. I’m actually so excited to be on. I just love all you do and, I’m so excited to talk about the good word because this has been a long time coming, I’ve been listening, and I love you and your family. So I’m so excited.

Thank you. I’m a super fan of yours. I love talking to you, and I wanted to have you on my show for the longest time, and now it’s happening.

I know. It’s like the best of both worlds.

It is, and it’s fun because you went from being my church coach to serving with each other to now we literally work together.

We’re both in college, just two girls living life. It’s a party. I’m so excited.

And also, I think we have very similar viewpoints on the world. And so I’m curious, what are your superpowers?

I think my superpower is, I think I would say I have two. I think superpowers, also I would call them what some people might say like gifts, would be the gift of encouragement or the superpower of being able to encourage people. Like I’m everyone’s biggest cheerleader. I think I’m really good at spreading the good word. And I think prayer. I don’t know, I think that’s really a spiritual thing, but I think that is the power of mine that I’m able to do that. So long story short, I think it’s encouraging and prayer.

Yeah. And I think that’s what we do. And I think that’s a huge part of this network, and that’s probably the reason I’m so excited to be able to work with you more and why I love doing worship and stuff with you. And I think that’s just such an amazing gift to have. And I think that’s what spirituality and religion give to us. And, no matter what you believe in and no matter what you do or how you’re doing it, there’s always that level of just love and peace in your life. And I think that’s something you really help people find.

Yeah, well thanks. Totally agree with that.

So I want to say something. So when we first started going to church, which was almost three years ago, 2018. I literally had no clue what Christianity was. I didn’t want to be a part of it because I only recognize the bad parts of it. And I think, well, I know that a huge part of the reason I still love our church is because you’re a part of it. And because, there’s so many amazing people, but also I didn’t have that many friends going to church, and I didn’t know who to talk to. And so when I found you, and I realized you had similar life stories and relations I’ve been through, it helped me see the really good sides of Christianity as I was still making friends and still figuring out what that was for me.

And so then I guess I have a question for you. How do you do it? I know that’s like such a broad question, but how do you stay loving all the time? Because back to Christianity it isn’t always sunshine while we pop. I know for our network, I’ve had multiple people ask me, that’s insane. How can you be spiritual and believe in God at the same time? So how do you do it in the weird, broad, spiritual sense of Christianity?

I think it goes back to your roots. Cause I’m definitely, I’m not as loving as I want to be every single day of every second, every day. And I think it comes back to believing in who our creator is and that we were meant to love others and love God or love God and love others. And I think in this spiritual context, it’s just like being there. Being present, being like you said in church like you’re one of the big reasons why I stay coaching because I saw so much of you in me, just like the way people do life together.

It’s so when you take a step back, it’s easy to love that, It’s just, I don’t know love is so big, and we were called to love, and I think that’s why we’re here. And so why not? What do you have to lose.I know it’s so broad, but it’s like my roots I was made to love. I don’t know, but the answer that I was created to love. I think that’s how I do it. I just continue to remember that.

Yeah. And I think, and something I love about you and I think that’s a place we really relate in is the idea of equality all around. And I think that something Christianity gets a really bad rap for it. I admit we’re not the best of keeping up the love in it, is discrimination all around, no matter what it is about. And I think something you’ve showed, is that it’s possible to do it all. And that you don’t have to believe in every aspect of it, but you can still love and relate in creating it.

Absolutely. My best friend and I are on the complete opposite spectrums politically, but I always say we share the common, the main thing. The main thing is that we believe in Jesus. We love, we both believe that love looks like this, love looks like that, but we love the same. And I think that is so beautiful about it when we open our hearts to that. I don’t agree with everyone on everything all the time, but the Lord calls us to love. And I see love as XYZ.

And that is what pushes me to love deeply and to fight for. Like you said, equality within the church or within people. I can’t remember what part it is. I can’t remember where in the Bible, but it says, don’t let people look down on you cause you’re children. Right. So age like we are still, still powerful being so young, you would know. So I think that’s so true. Through that, we are able to love through Jesus because that reaches everyone or not even like just through being spiritual and loving that and living through that.

Yeah, exactly. And I think that a huge part of what I think the gift of being able to see that so young is. The idea of discrimination isn’t something that you just grow up to believe, it’s how you’re raised and who’s teaching you. And so if you’re surrounded by people who are constantly discriminating for anything, you grow up believing that unless you just dramatically change it. And I think a huge part of where I am today is especially with Christianity because trust me, I was reluctant to go into church.

I knew that I was going to be able to make friends and have amazing opportunities but, I wasn’t sure if I was going to relate to experience on a spiritual level because I was so used to going to burning man and going to places that are so far away from Christianity that I thought that those were two separate things. And I wasn’t sure if it was going to be fun or big or scary or whatever. And I think something you showed me is that it can be all like it’s literally everything mushed together. And it just depends on how you look at it. If you’re looking at Christianity through all exclusive thing, that’s where you’re going to see. If you’re looking through a one-sided lens, that’s what you’re going to see.

I think something about Christianity is a lot of the time we limit ourselves to being a Christian. But I say, I follow Jesus. I’m a Jesus follower. Or I’m spiritual. I lean towards spirituality more than I would put a label on it because organized religion is messy. But when we get to the root of it, it’s that we’re loved, and we are meant to give love. And I think it’s such a slippery slope where we sit on the line of religion or spirituality. And I think that is what’s so great about being a Christian is that our value is Jesus.

And Jesus is to love who everyone is. Jesus loved the sinners. He loved the homeless. He loved everyone. Jesus was Jesus. And so I think that is so like you said, when we look at it one-sided, it is like, Oh, just a Christian with these XYZ what this church tells me, but we have the Bible as our book, as our guide, as our map that we can create our life upon. And we can do everything guided by the spirit. So I totally agree. I think it’s so good when we take a step back. Like, what is the common goal?

Exactly. And the common goal is love. And I think that no matter what side you’re coming from, whether you’re coming from the all Christianity, hardcore belief, everything that the Bible says, or the full spirituality. Which is like the belief that it’s just all like, the word I get is like Mom says a lot or the full there’s nothing. That is a spectrum. We can all go to love. I think that’s the really important thing about religion and everything is we all go to love at the end of the day and we have to meet there first.

Yeah. True work backwards.

Exactly.

So good.

Yeah. So we do have to get into a quick break and so that I keep talking with you more about the good word. But how can people support you, where can they go, and what can they do to just fill up and get in your love?
