The Invitation

Yeah. So I had it in around 2015. When you got the invitation. And the invitation, you can actually read in the book, the Science of Superpowers. It’s one of the very first chapters in the book. But it’s also, more recently, you can go listen to the Science of Superpowers podcast. Tonya just did an episode called the Invitation.

If you go to superpowerexperts.com, find the Science of Superpowers show. And look for that individual episode called The Invitation, you’ll get to learn more about exactly what that is. But we want to explore today what this meant because this wasn’t just an invitation for Tonya. This was an invitation that actually had huge, huge ramifications for not just Tonya, but for us as a family. And ultimately, for everybody that’s chosen to come to play with us inside the superpower universe.

And I want to ask you, Tonya, you can summarize this because I want everybody to go listen to that podcast episode for certain. But summing up the invitation, please.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Yeah, absolutely. Thank you for that. It was in deep conversation. I was going through a serious activation period, which I do talk about in the book. And my experience with that was that I was walking with God. God was taking me wherever it was that I needed to go. And that was the experience I had.

And in the midst of all of that, I was pushed and poked and prodded and pulled. It was like, my body felt like it was being turned inside out. My mind was being stretched beyond things that I could ever possibly imagine. And it got a little burdensome. I mean, you were present for all that. Like it got a little burdensome.

And so, I got a little cheeky and got really insistent at one point. Like “What is this?” It was all fun and games. And then, after a while, it just kept happening and more… And it would interrupt my existence. It just kept going on.

And I wanted to know why. And when I asked that question, that was when the invitation came through, which was clearly the call to awaken the masses and to impact millions. And I do talk about it on the show and so I won’t belabor it here. But the gut-wrenching experience of being hit with the enormity of that. And also, to hear very clearly, “You’re going to do this. This is what you’re here to do.”

And so that invitation was challenging. It took me a while. In fact, it probably came through way before that, because it took me a long time to get okay with this, the superpower conversation wasn’t something that I was all that keen on. And I didn’t really understand it. And I thought I was crazy. Right.

I mean, just like what you spoke to. It’s real, it’s true. But you got to step in, otherwise, you stay on the fringe thinking, “I must just be nuts.” Right. But then over time, as you believe in it more, and you engage in it more and you commune with it more, more and more comes. And the proof is astounding. Right. It’s undeniable.

But those beginning stages, man, you feel like, “What Kool-Aid did I drink? What the heck is going on here?” And we were coming from counter-intel.

Justin Recla:

Yeah. Yeah. And that’s the thing. Right. Is in that world, the construct didn’t fit, it didn’t work because that world is so dependent on rules and a hierarchy of chain of command. And in toeing the line.

And the invitation that came through was one of like, “No, go break all those constructs. Go show people that there’s a better way of doing things.” And at the time, I mean, Neva, you were just way young when all of this came forward. And we were just starting on this path.

But what I love about it is that you heeded the calling right away, because you were the second podcast show on the network and you were like, “Well, I’m in, count me in.” And you were like, “Mom’s going to be waking up the adults. I’m going to be waking up the kids.” So, what’s your experience with that invitation?

Neva Lee Recla:

Yeah, that’s a great question. I think for me, especially since I was so young, when I was younger, the experience was less literal. So it was more of a, “Oh,” than, “Why wouldn’t I do the podcast?” It wasn’t even a question in my head. It wasn’t like, “Wait, but, yes, And.”

It was just, “Well, why wouldn’t I?” I think that was a blessing in itself if there was no, but, and, what-ifs, type of thing. It was just like, “All right, I might as well.” And so, from there came Superpower Kids, which is now my retired podcast. And stay tuned, by the way, I’ll be getting a new podcast out soon.

But I think for me, it was just, I saw you are awakening adults. I was like, “Well, why not awaken the kids while we’re so young?” They’re not adults. And trying to figure out their lives, trying to unpack all the stories that they have. Because right now, they’re kids.

There are not all those years of experience. No matter what they’ve been through, it’s still not 40, 50 years on top of that. So, I think for me, it was just a, “Well, let’s just do it.” And like, “Why wouldn’t I? Of course, it’s right there. I might as well.”

Justin Recla:

Yeah. But you could have easily not have done that. You could have easily said, “No, I just want to be a kid.”

Neva Lee Recla:

I don’t think it’s that simple.

Justin Recla:

You’re absolutely right. It’s not. But you could have.

Neva Lee Recla:

I could have, but for me, especially when I was younger, it was, I started a business when I was two, folks. So I think the idea that it would’ve been a choice Because, for me, that was a regular childhood.

I didn’t understand why my friends weren’t doing podcasts at their age. So for me, it wasn’t that simple. It wasn’t just going to be like, “Oh, well, do I sacrifice my regular childhood to go and have a podcast?” For me, it was both. So, it wasn’t like a, go be a regular kid, because I already knew I wasn’t going to be a regular kid. So it was like, might as well just be less regular.

Justin Recla:
