Trust as a Super Power? How about authenticity? Michelle Pierson Young talks about how to harness both by staying curious and excited.  As she walks around the world asking, “What do you love?” she naturally shifts environments wherever she goes. Listen is as we discuss the amazing world created through spiritual journeying and learning self-responsibility.

Hello everyone. This is Tonya Dawn Recla your Super Power Expert and I am very excited to have with me today a delightful woman. She is such a blast. She just exudes, like, I will just say, like, bubbly energy out of that. That’s what I would describe being or that she has around her. And so I’m really excited that you’re going to get to get a little glimpse into her world and her perspective and what she shares with her clients. She’s a life coach, into the broad variety of topics with all different types of people. And what I really appreciate is that kind of practical approach. So she’s super down to earth and everything that she guides people on comes from that space, which as we all know that applicability is absolutely key. We’re talking about authenticity and trust. So I’m really excited to have her here with us today. Please join me in welcoming Michelle Pierson Young. Welcome, Michelle.

Oh thank you. Thank you Tonya so much. It’s really a pleasure to be visiting with you and be visiting with your audience today too. So thank you for having me.

Very cool. Absolutely. Well, we like to throw people right in to the mix and say, “Tell us what your superpowers are.”

Well, OK if I have to limit them. I happen to believe that I’m more than happy to talk about my superpowers and I happen to believe that everybody has them. It’s a matter of recognizing them and utilizing them but I would say that one of my favorite superpowers that I get to use particularly in my coaching practice is that I provide a space and people feel from me they feel safe. People from the time I was pretty young would come to me and tell me stuff that was going on with their life because…because they…they felt like it was ok. Whatever it was, was OK with me you know, whatever’s going on it’s all right. And…and that’s…that’s been a blessing for me because it’s…it’s been a great tool and an asset as I’ve coached people with them to be able to be authentic. And that’s how, you know, that authenticity is a powerful medicine in life. And so I would say one of my superpowers is I help people feel safe.

I love that. And it’s actually…and it’s still necessary right now in our society that you know I see so much small…just…and people just don’t know where to look and that kind of transparency and authenticity is huge right now. So I think that’s an awesome superpower.

Yeah, yeah I like it. I like this one. And it…and it feels really good it feels really good to have people you know come and just say I feel OK when I’m with you I feel like it’s going to be OK. And not…yeah I mean what a fun role to play right?

Oh that feels all warm and gooey and like, “Oh I just want to like her a lot less than that right now.” It’s like, “Ahh… yeah.” That’s lovely. And so great. Well…and so talk to me a little bit about how you…how you use that with your clients and how you walk them through that process so that they can kind of take that from you and use it in their everyday lives.

Absolutely it’s a really good question and it’s funny because I was just in a meeting earlier this morning and we’re…we’re gearing up a team of us here in New Mexico. We’re gearing up for a Love Manifestation Retreat. And…and as we talked as a team we talked about the energy that we want to bring into this retreat where people are you know learning about the Law of Attraction and learning, you know the principles that…that create vibrant beautiful lives. And what we talked about as a team was coming in as…as authorities absolutely as authorities in this topic but also being authentic about it not…not putting on that “Well, you know, I have it all going on.” You know I don’t struggle with any of these things and that’s the…the real thing is that, while it doesn’t have to be a struggle we all have our stuff. We all have our things and you know I had a friend who once said to me, she said, “Every expert I’ve ever known in the field teaches what they need to learn most.” And at first I kind of, you know, I bumped up against her, “Well, maybe for some people but not for me.” That was when I say, “Ahh OK.” You know. And so you know and so that’s I think if that’s the feeling when I say that it’s my superpower I think that people automatically feel it from me. It’s you know that energy. But…but it’s also that just being straight and going, “You know what I miss my flight. And there was a part of my soul that just wanted to yell at the woman behind the counter.” And enlightenment is not…is not…is not that we don’t want to yell at the person. It’s recognizing that this is a temporary situation and yelling doesn’t help anybody.

Absolutely.

And so just having that attitude about it and just and just being real about it and going, “No I’m not perfect at this. I want to be perfect but I’m not sure perfect exists.”

And what’s so fascinating to me is that and where that came from. And we keep coming up with all kinds of conspiracy theories. But the concept of being vulnerable is a weakness is…is really a disempowering place to come from. And what people don’t realize is that….well and so they kind of do that crossover. They don’t realize that that transparency, authenticity, vulnerability space is your most powerful space to be in. What’s ironic is I learned that in espionage ironically like they’re not the most transparent authentic place to be. But it is…

Oh I love that. I love that.

…that the irony is…is that if you…like you know in handling the clearance process and going through all of that, the federal government is very clear. Like you can have a top secret clearance and have some pretty big discretions in your path. They just want to know if you’re willing to be transparent about this and to talk about them because their…their biggest concern is can you be blackmailed, can you be bribed for that information because that’s the security risk for them. But it’s true for all of us and once you own that, it’s like no one like you’re untouchable. Nobody can touch you like there’s nothing to use against you who goes sitting there like, “Oh wow that felt crappy for half a heartbeat. I’m going to move that little piece.” And you keep going you know. And it’s like…and to be in that level of transparency is pure freedom.

Exactly.

And like what you said, it doesn’t mean you’re done. You know I tell people like you don’t have to be done. Like, I don’t know if we ever get done. You just have to get to that tipping point where it’s like you’re more done than not done, you know.

Right. Yeah. Exactly. And you know it’s so funny I, on my coaching, I had a group coaching session this morning. And we were talking about taking responsibility. And it all has to do with that vulnerability piece. When I’m willing to say, “Oh look I screwed up.”, you know whatever it is when I’m willing to say that, and the analogy of the U.S. government is a great analogy…

Especially right now.

Yeah…yeah…yeah exactly. People…people fear responsibility because they…they believe on some level that it somehow makes them wrong. If I take responsibility for a situation and go, “Wow, look at me that…that was something that I did.” They believe that they’re somehow wronged but it is exactly what you’ve said it’s…it’s…that is a super power. Being able to say, “Well, look, I take responsibility for that.” And for me taking responsibility slash being vulnerable slash just being open to it is a superpower because it puts me in the driver’s seat.

Oh absolutely.

Like you said I can’t… nobody can… nobody has anything over me if I’ve already owned it.

Well and the irony is…

And to…

Oh go ahead hon.

Oh it’s just…I’ve…yeah…no, please go ahead.

And the irony also is that, you know, in this day and age there are so many people awakening to their super powers that most people know. And so I remind people all the time you were never the most intuitive person in a room ever. And if you go in thinking that way then it’s…it’s much easier to call yourself out on things because you can’t hide vibrationally anymore. Too many of us are in tune to that. And the second you get into a low vibrational state whether you get triggered or you get charged or whatever the case might be, we feel it.

Oh yeah.

And so I was like, exactly, you can sit there and stumble over yourself and lie if you want to. But automatically that’s putting up a wall between us because I know you’re not telling the truth at that point. And…

Right.

You know, so if you’re not confident about what you’re saying you might as well own it. Be like, “Oh well this is…information is interesting I’m not real sure about it. But let me just share.” And we’ll kind of weave through it. Yeah. You know it’s…it’s…it’s…and I…and I like the idea of total self-responsibility. And when you come from that space as I say you don’t make mistakes like it’s simply a choice. And then you look at it and say, “Oh, OK probably in retrospect I would have made that same choice but let’s review this right.

Let’s move on.

It’s probably why it was created.

Well you know that too…that…that piece of it that you just said of going, “Oh look at that! Isn’t that interesting?” I think that’s a super power as well. And…and let me explain what I mean by that. When we can look at our missteps however you want to frame it because I’m with you, it’s like everything is just an education. But when we look at something we don’t like the result of what we’ve done, when we can as a real superpower that I like to teach my clients is staying curious. And staying curious in a moment where we don’t like the result of something that we’ve…we’ve done whether it’s I was in a relationship that didn’t work out or I made financial decisions that didn’t serve me or whatever it is, when we can look at it and instead of going you know, “Hopefully I won’t offend anybody. Dammit. Look what I did again.” you know that’s going into that same mode as superpower is to get curious about it and instead of react we get to respond and go, “Oh isn’t that interesting that I did that thing I wonder about that.” And it’s…part of…one of the ways that you…that we cultivate that superpower is in meditation because it gives us that response time versus that reaction time. But just going, “Oh and you’re the one that brought it up.” It’s like, “Oh isn’t that interesting that I did it again.” And it’s…one of the most powerful ways that we can go into the world is to…is to…is to come with that energy of going,  “Oh I’m curious about this because I don’t like the result. Isn’t that interesting that I don’t…I don’t feel good in this moment. How can I change that?”

Well and I…I’ll never forget, you know, Gary and Dain. As these Consciousness folks talked about that in their language-ing one time and it really stuck with me because they were talking about well you know when you place a value on something, judge it in any way, shape or form, as good or bad, it starts to solidify. And anything that starts to solidify you can’t move.

Interesting.

And so that’s curiosity. What it…if they you know…it’s kind of the idea staying completely neutral in all things because even if we’re like, ‘Oh wow yeah that was great. I really like that I just did that.” And it’s like, “OK now here’s the thing.” And anything that you kind of end your story that idea that concept somewhere because you’ve now labeled it you know or this writing that is bad. And it was it came up actually in a really powerful way. They were talking about their experience moving some pretty hefty like abuse stuff through days. And Gary candidly talks about how his judgment of what they’ve endured solidified that energy inside him and made it very difficult for them to lose the one that took them a while to figure out what was happening. And I love that because I’ve always abided by the principle that you know there’s no victim in the spiritual realm. You know we all make choices. And sometimes those choices are being made by our higher selves before our temporal selves are aware of it. But it’s a choice. And we always get to choose what we engage in. And when you look at it from that vantage point it means you are capable of changing it and it puts all the power back in your hands versus that blaming or you know or labeling and judging and all that good stuff.

Right. Right. Exactly. And that’s I love that superpower. I believe that everybody has that super power available to them.

Absolutely.

You know it just takes a process. It’s like going to the spiritual gym. You have to practice always.

Well and it is…it is a moment now we’re running some really cool experiments in our network right now seeing how quickly we can get people to associate with a different reality rather than going to prophecy. And I think that we’re really tapping into something just by harnessing choice and getting them attuned to frequencies and vibrations. And it’s powerful what we’re noticing. And so it’s…there’s…there’s merit to going through it as a process and understanding and then delving into things. And there’s also merit for some folks to bypassing that you know. And so we’re seeing just how powerful that self-responsibility and choice is in every single moment. Pretty exciting.

I…I love that you chose the word exciting because it really is when…when we can know about these concepts and go, “Oh yeah, yeah, yeah that makes sense, that makes sense.” When we begin to know them when we begin to absorb them into our DNA and know them not just know about them exciting is exactly the word. Exciting because it gives us that responsive rather than your reacting power. It’s exciting to go, “Oh wow, you know, how can this day…how can my attitude…how can my understanding of the elements, you know, as it were, change and…and impact and direct and flow in this day?” And it is exciting is exactly the word.

I love it. That’s…that’s where we talk all the time like, in our network. We call it the Network of Evolutionary Transformation. That’s our membership base for Super Power Experts. And so we’re always talking about playing, like people come and play with us. And you know I’ve said from the beginning like I’m very selfishly created this business because I just wanted more people to play with.

Right.

So that’s why I did it.

Absolutely.

And when you’re not having fun and being excited and playing I don’t see a whole point to this. Because I want to move on. I really want to get to know you better and you like to talk for days I’m sure.

Oh my God.

But the uhm…but I know you’re here with this now. I see it in you like this…this year is…you’re going to change the world. You already are. You did positive. What is your current kind of angle with that? What is your current out-to-change-the-world kind of conversation that you’re having?

Uhm…so…so…I’m sorry because I’m indexical I only got a few of those words. Tell me what’s my current what?

What’s the current conversation that you’re having around how you’re changing the world?

Well mostly it’s a conversa…well I’m really having some really interesting conversations and really the conversation that…that is happening on a daily basis for me is I find myself in the energy I would say nine times out of 10 and I suspect it’ll be 10 times out of 10 here because again I’m at the spiritual gym and I do it more and more is the conversation with people that I interact with whether it’s the clerk at the grocery store or a prospective client or clients that I’ve been working with for years, is the question and the energy of what would you love? So rather than meeting somebody and saying, “Oh so what do you do?” that it’s such a super… a superficial question you know I could say well you know I wash dishes because I do that sometimes. I wash dishes. Or I swim. I swim at the beach. What do you do I swim at the beach. But the question of what would I love. It serves multiple purposes. And one of those purposes is it gets people thinking in a higher vibration direction. Well what do you…what do you love and I suspect that if I ask you what do you…what do you love, you would…you would talk about your family you would talk about Justin and you would talk about Neeva. And…and automatically you’ll notice even when I say those two things to you, you automatically feel a little bit better you’re living on a higher vibration. And so even if somebody says to me why I love beading. I love to work with beading but you’ll watch people’s faces light up when they answer the question. And so that’s kind of the current conversation about around…around the work I’m doing. Like I said it could be the gas station attendant. It could be somebody that I’ve worked with for years and they know I’m going to ask them that question. Without exception it changes their energy whenever they’re asked that question because their mind automatically goes to things that make them feel good and it completely changes every interaction we have.

I love it. It seems synergistic that…that’s the exact reason why we walk around asking people what their super powers are because it’s like, “Oh wait what?” Like, “me? Oh yeah. Maybe I have super powers.” Oh well we notice that it does…it changes the script so I love that. It’s that instantaneous like, “Hey this is not all there is folks.” Like that mundane tasks that you have on your mind right now is not all there is. That’s a beautiful way to live through the world. I feel that it’s really good.

I had…I had a really interesting conversation. My husband Aaron and I were at our house at the coast and we were we were in this little beach town where we always joke around that the locals would rather we dry up and go away. They can be a little bit surly sometimes in the mountains. And we were just going through Safeway and it was a mob. And I understand why the checker, you know, the woman, the cashier she was all that cranky and I could tell she was cranky. So we get up there and I’ve got quite a few groceries. And I…I just asked her I said, “How are you doing today?” and she was like, “Well it’s just really super busy here.” and you know she starts kind of cussing about it. And I said…I said…well…what…you know I’m still trying and I’m like what…what are you going to do. This is a true story this really happened. I said, “What are you going to do when you get off work?” And she goes, “Slap anybody who asked me how I’m doing.” And I’m like, “Oh honey you better hope I’m not a creeper secret shopper because that’s going to get your princess fired here.” But I keep going because I’m like…so I can change the nature of this interaction. And so and so I said, “So are you from here?” And she you know we get just a little bit of a shift going and she starts opening up about…about what she loves and…and in that you know I the least I did, the least I did was change her energy for a minute from being victimized by her circumstances to you know…you know really genuinely caring about…about how she goes about the world and who she is as a person. And that’s you know when you talk about changing the world a movement in that direction of genuinely caring about people and caring about you know what they love and what lights them up is it would…it will literally change the world and does every day. And at least I always love you know the story of a little girl throwing one of thousands of starfish back into the ocean and when confronted that she couldn’t save them all she throws another one in and says I made a difference to that one and that….and when we talk about changing the world sometimes it feels very overwhelming because you know the world a very big place and there’s a lot going on. But we can change worlds every day one person at a time. It makes a difference to that one.

I absolutely agree with that. That’s a beautiful way to move through the world and hopefully you sharing that does inspire many others to do the same. And it’s not difficult it’s just making a choice to not buy into, you know, the traditional and what they have been training, how we’ve been trained to interact in breaking down those walls of perceived separation. I think it’s huge. And so I absolutely love that and come and encourage everybody to think of something that you can do as you’re walking around the world and touching people’s lives. One of the books that we sell The Secret of Abundance. You know that’s one of the daily exercises it’s like smiling to people, make that connection, say hello because when we start to remember that we’re not all that different you know up in the abstract frequencies where you play in high creative frequency. You get that there’s no separation between all of us you know I know. I am you, you are me and what impacts you impacts me and so when you start to break down those walls you know our society is very specifically set up with divisiveness. And when we refuse to play in that and decide instead to play in the different space it changes everything.

Absolutely.

And so I honor you doing that. Very good. It’s nice to know that you’re out there doing that. I’d love to hear all these stories. You know and it gives me hope. I know that we’re making change and I know that it’s impacting the world and definitely the joy in it.

Absolutely.

Well very cool. I promise you that we would be swift and of course we’re going to go on and on and on but I will wrap up and ask the final question even though I am hesitant to let you go but I will. My question for you is, what is an example of a time when you lived in your power, where you operated intuitively and what was the result?

So I love this question and I love it right now because I, if everybody listening, can imagine right now I’m sitting out on a deck with there’s a thread past the roof above my head and there…there’s white sand surrounding the deck and just…just a few yards down is the…I’m on the Yucatan Peninsula and there’s this gorgeous blue ocean from me and I’m just right in front of me and that’s where I’m talking with you from today. And the reason I’m here is because a friend asked me several months ago back in April if in May of 2016 I’d be interested in attending a retreat. And it was a…it was a yoga and meditation retreat and I followed my intuition on that when it was it was very simple, “Yes.” It was an easy and then it came from my intuition and I went on that retreat and I told the owner that the co-founder I said I feel like you designed this specifically for me and I have this just amazing experience. And I loved it and loved everything about it and relished every moment. Well you know it’s pretty clear when you spend any time talking to me that I’m a life coach.

And we started talking and we…I stayed a little bit longer and we had dinner. I’m back at the same retreat at a hotel called…called Allea Hotel and life source retreat. And the reason I’m here again is because Michelle the co-founder invited me to facilitate. And so I’m here on vacation slash working slash playing just as you just as we talked about earlier because I followed that intuition because it’s…because….because when we really pay attention to when our soul wants to say yes opportunities open that we never could have imagined on our own.

That’s a perfect story.

Yeah it’s a very…it’s a very immediately I’m…I’m having that experience right now. And I…I invite every person listening to just pay attention to their yeses because it might…it might mean that you take a new class or you try a new vegetable or it might mean that…that business opportunities or relationship opportunities that you couldn’t have imagined when you’re trying to design on your own. It’s only when you’re attached to your intuition that these things begin to grow and flourish for you.

Absolutely. Perfect. That is a perfect Live in Your Power story. I love it. I can see it. I’m there with you. Energetically, I feel it. Very cool. And congrats to you for taking those moves. You know our society teaches us that that’s dreary. And again it’s like the conversation about taking ownership of what you do. When you start operating intuitively it’s like you know you kind of sit there scratching your head but it is kind of easy. Like, “What was I going to do with eggs before?”

Exactly.

It’s like you’ve got your own little cheat sheet to life.

And it really is exactly like that. And it’s the voice of intuition and I can’t remember who I’m quoting to be honest but the voice of intuition is as loud as our willingness to listen. But like anything else it’s the practice it’s that practice of listening to the voice and really familiarizing yourself. Just like if your…if your husband called you on the phone right now, if…if you heard from your child, you would…they wouldn’t have to say, “Hey mom this is your daughter Neeva.” You would just know her voice. Intuition is exactly the same but we have to become familiar with it.

Yeah. And then you get to that place and feel like, “Oh is that you?” And then go for a laugh. This is the place we are going.

Exactly. It’s always there.

Oh Michelle, I knew this would be fun and delightful and like I said I’m actually hesitant to let it go but I will allow you to get back to your paradise there. Where can people find out more about you because I know my…our listeners are going to want to know more?

Yeah absolutely. So I have a very inexpert face or a URL. It’s called michelleatplay.com.

I love that. Both are really great mantras to live under. And…and I will let you get back to your place there but not before I thank you so much for joining us today and I look forward to the next time you and I are face to face. And let me give you a big hug and love to the family. Enjoy yourself.

Likewise. Thank you so much for having me. And thank you Tonya. You be well.

Absolutely, you also. We’ve been talking about authenticity and trust. And to all of our listeners out there as always we appreciate your loyalty. And until next time go uncover the super powers and change the world. Take care.
