Valorie Hubbard, professional actress from Resident Evil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  and founder of Actor’s Fast Track, joins Neva Lee Recla to talk about superpowers and the Hollywood scene. Valorie is a veteran of stage, film and TV, having appeared theatrically on Broadway, off-Broadway, in regional touring companies, and internationally, with The Lab Theatre in Poland. Her film and TV credits include: The Hannah Montana Movie, Henry Fool, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, American Horror Story, Workaholics, True Blood, and many more. Ooh. So first question, what are your superpowers?

Well, I’m a magic … my superpower is magic, but just like what it says, magic … it’s not really magic, but people sometimes think I’m a magician because I … actors that I help, they think I’m a magician and so they call me … one of my actresses … and I wish you could meet her because you would love her … her name is Carolyn Faye Kramer and she’s played Anne Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank twice. Do you know that book? The Diary of Anne Frank?

I don’t think I have.

It’s a really good book.

I’ll check it out.

And she’s played the play twice-

Awesome.

-and she sent me this beautiful picture that says, “Your wish is granted,” and she calls me her fairy godmother.

That is awesome!

I always believed in fairies.

Yeah, I do, too. I have a fairy house.

I love fairies. My best friend, he passed away, but he used to … we used to show each other where our wings came out of our back when we were fairies. We really believed we were fairies.

That’s awesome!

Okay, so first of all, Good Luck Charlie was a blast because I played Donna and she was … that’s my favorite kind of character. I also played that same character almost on Kickin’ It for five years. I was called Tammy Sparkle … Miss Sparkle, right? … Mama Sparkle. Those characters have always … they think they’re really better than everyone else and they’re very … they’re usually kind of smarmy, you know? I love playing the … and you know on Disney the adults always get blown up, or they’re always dumb, or they’re the ones that get tricked into all this stuff. I got thrown through a wall on Good Luck Charlie.

Did you do that stunt or was there a stunt woman?

No, I had a stunt lady. Then they go, “Do you want to go stick your head in the wall?” I said, “No, I’ll just stand over here at the mic and say the line.” I’m not gonna go stick my head in the wall. Why would I want to do that? Then I had to wear that big thing. Remember I told you? They made me wear that big … like my neck was broken, Disney-style, right? They made me wear … and the little girl would not say her line.

Which little girl?

Charlie.

Oh.

Say your line! Say your line!

How old is she now?

I have no idea! I don’t even know what happened to her!

Yeah.

It was a fun set, so you know … I mean, I did a movie called Resident Evil: Extinction, which you shouldn’t have seen. Don’t see that, but it’s like a zombie movie, right? I had a really great time shooting it because I was a really mean person, and we were in Mexico … we shot it in Mexico City and it was so much fun. They treated us like … they treated me like a queen, and it was really nice, and I went to the pyramids, and they drove me everywhere, and I did this movie. It was so much fun, and then I got to be so mean and evil, and I got to work with Milla Jovovich and she was the nicest person ever. I loved her. I’ve also worked with Miley Cyrus and she’s super nice, too.

Yeah, I definitely-

Because I was in the Hannah Montana Movie.

Yeah. Who did you play again?

What?

Who did you play?

I was the ticket taker at the beginning when she’s like, “We need in!,” and I’m like, “Well in your dreams, sweet cheeks!”

Oh!

Yeah, it was fun. It was a little thing but I made good money from that.

So let me think. So have you ever been on shows that have mostly adults or have mostly kids?

You know what? I always end up with the kids, which is not surprising to me. I did a commercial for Lunchables, you know, and it was me and all the kids. I was the crazy lunch lady, right? So I played about 25 games of UNO that day. You know? But it was good. I’m fine with playing 25 games of UNO because I don’t have kids so I never do that, so for me it was fun. Right? I mean when my friends have kids I like to play with them because I don’t have to do that all the time.

Yeah.
