How does it make you feel when you hear someone say that Jesus makes us enough? On this episode of We Rise, host Ashley Palmer is joined by guest Javin Leach where they discuss how Jesus makes us enough. We can compare all we want, but only Jesus makes us enough.  Javin and Ashley share a great connection over the fact that they are both pastor’s kids and they also interned at the same church. Javin loves Jesus and is now a student teaching resident at their church. Listen to this episode and learn to turn away from comparison and why Jesus makes us enough.

Ashley Palmer:

What’s up, everyone? Welcome back to the We Rise channel talking about how Jesus makes us enough. I am here with another super special guest. This guest is one of my closest friends. She’s so great. Her name is Javin Leach. Guys, you guys Javin is so awesome. So she is a fellow PK. She’s currently a pastor’s kid. So we have kind of connected over that. She is just a hard worker. She loves Jesus. She brings a light to all of our friend groups, everyone loves her. When you hear the name, Javin, a smile comes to your face. She’s just the greatest. She was an intern with me when I was an intern at our church. She is a current resident at our church, which is student teaching, but for ministry. And so you get to literally be a pastor. So she is literally the coolest person I’ve ever met. Welcome, Javin. Hey girl.

Activate Your Superpowers

Javin Leach:

Hi, oh my gosh. Thank you so much for having me. This is so surreal. I’ve never done something like this before, so I’m just really happy to be here.

Ashley Palmer:

I’m so excited. You guys we’re FaceTiming right now. So we’re just looking at each other. Usually, they’re just phone calls, but not today because she’s seriously one of my best friends.

Javin Leach:

Besties FaceTime.

Ashley Palmer:

Besties FaceTime coming to you all the way from Florida little update on me for those who are wondering, I have recently relocated to Florida for a time being so Javin and I are long-distance, but I’m so excited that we get to talk and chat and catch up and share that conversation with you guys. So without further ado, let’s ask Javin the big question, Javin, what is your superpower and how do you use it to help others rise?

Javin Leach:

Wow, what is my superpower? I feel like God has given me some really awesome gifts. And when I say that I don’t mean to be oh my God, it’s like God gave me all these things, go me. That’s not how I intend it when I say it, but I feel like God has seriously given me some spiritual gifts. I think just making people feel welcome and making them feel loved and like they’re wanted. So I know that my core desires are to be loved, to be wanted, to be welcomed, and growing up my parents have always told me to treat other people how I wanted to be treated, the golden rule.

This is something that I think you’re really good at too. But I think my super power is literally just loving on people. I’m the biggest people person ever, maybe besides you.

Ashley Palmer:

Together.

Javin Leach:

Yes. But now literally, I think that my superpower is just being able to love on people. And I really love getting to know people, getting to know their stories, getting to know, like for us, people who are in ministry, why do you want to be in ministry? How can I support you alongside that? And yeah, I think that I use this superpower to help other people rise because I think I can be encouraging to them. And some of the time I feel like ministry can be more of a lonely role where people don’t see all the work that you put in behind the scenes to make things on the weekend work, how they’re supposed to work, and how many hours and just all of the nitty-gritty stuff, they don’t see that. And so I feel like, with this gift that God’s given me, it’s just made me help other people feel like they’ve seen and just loved and wanted so…

Ashley Palmer:

Yeah. Oh, girl. You’re so cool. No guys, seriously. That is Javin’s gift. I think that is who you are. You’re just a person that loves people. Everyone loves you, you light up a room. And I don’t say that lightly because I love and it’s so true. Everywhere you go, you definitely exude Jesus’ love and who he is because it’s so good. And it’s so needed. I remember one time it was.

Javin Leach:

Oh no.

Ashley Palmer:

No, it’s a good one time. So one time I didn’t, I didn’t even know Javin didn’t know her at all. Literally, I met her maybe a couple of times she seemed to like, 0h my gosh. She’s one of the cool church girls. She’s one of them.

Javin Leach:

No.

Ashley Palmer:

Yes, she is. She’s one of them. And so I was like on my way to serve, one night at church way before I started the internship, I was just serving and she stopped me and she’s in this group of all these pastors and all these people that I looked up to and she was like, “Hey, girl.”

And I was like, “Hey.” She made me feel heard and loved. And she called me by my name. And she was like, “Hey, Ashley, are you going to come to hang out at group tonight?” And maybe it was because I was wearing a name tag or maybe it’s because she loves me. The world may never know, but she invited me and welcomed me. And it, just, I never told you this before, but I remember it because you’re just so great. And that’s what people remember. It’s just a simple hello. And calling them by their name and calling them out, showing them that they’re loved. And so you’re so good at it. And I just had to share that.

Javin Leach:

Okay. I literally did not know where you were going with that the entire time you were saying that.

Ashley Palmer:

What direction are we going in?

Javin Leach:

I have the memory of Dory from Finding Nemo.

Ashley Palmer:

Do you remember that thing I told you? And she’s like, “No.”

Javin Leach:

I literally don’t remember that story, but that’s so…

Ashley Palmer:

That’s okay. I remember it. I don’t expect you to cause it was maybe two years, no, I don’t know maybe a year and a half ago.

Javin Leach:

Wow.

Ashley Palmer:

It was Christmas time, but I don’t even know, who knows.

Javin Leach:

Maybe I do remember.

Ashley Palmer:

I don’t know but it was a long time ago and I just remember it because you’re awesome. Okay. Well, we have to take a quick break but before then, Javin, where can people find you if they want to? And they should.

Javin Leach:

Yeah, so you guys can follow me on Instagram. I have a really weird name. So it’s Javin, the letter M and then my last name. Leach.

Ashley Palmer:

It’s so cool though because I bet you never find your name’s on key chains, but I think it’s a cool name to have. So for me, it’s like Ashley Palmer. You can find it anywhere but your name is super cool because it’s unique. You’re not like most…

Javin Leach:

I used to hate it, but now it’s a way for me to share the gospel in a really subtle way because it’s in the Bible and people are like, “No way.”

Ashley Palmer:

No way, okay, wait, let’s go on a quick break and when we come back. We want to hear why your name’s in the Bible, okay. All right. We’re talking all about how Jesus makes us enough. Tune in. And we’ll be right back.
