Activate Your Superpowers

Kristina Mand Lakhiani:

Thank you, Tatiana, for having me. I’m excited.

Tatiana Berindei:

Yeah, me too. So before we dive in today, I would love for you to share with our listeners what you believe your parenting superpowers to be.

Kristina Mand Lakhiani:

It’s interesting, in a different interview, I was asked in general about my superpowers and I started thinking and I realized that, in my opinion, being a woman and mothering a child is quite a superpower. So my superpower is creating children. Obviously, I only created two. Maybe I should have used it a little more frequently. I think that is just the miracle of growing a life and creating… Sometimes I look at my youngest, at my daughter, and I think, “Oh my God, I can’t believe that all those little details of a human being, fingers and nails and hands and nose and ears, that all was created in some magical way.” So for me, it was a very, very magical experience. And after I delivered my first child, I had such huge respect for every woman who has experienced that. Of course, that’s the first step, the biological part of motherhood. But yeah, the true motherhood comes after, actually.

Tatiana Berindei:

Right. Yeah. Before I did this work, I was studying midwifery and I worked as a doula for a long time. And before I had my babies, everything was around birth and all the buildup was about, okay, giving birth and giving birth and then the baby’s born. It’s like, “Oh, I didn’t prepare for the rest of it.” Right. There’s everything that comes after.

Kristina Mand Lakhiani:

Yeah. So I guess parenting, actually, it’s an interesting thing. It’s a very human thing because our fairytales end and they live happily ever after and only in real life, you realize that a wedding is the beginning. And I think the same story is with motherhood. The moment you find out you’re going to be a mother, you think that the delivery is the thing. And then you survive this super intense experience and you think, “Yes, I’m done.” That was an evil laugh.

Tatiana Berindei:

Yup, and it’s only the beginning. Well, I’m super excited about this conversation today. Before we really get going, we’re going to go on a quick break and we’re going to dive in deep once we get back. Before we go to break, will you tell our listeners where they can go to find out more about you and your work? I mean, obviously, Mindvalley is a pretty well-known organization, but is there anywhere, in particular, you want to send them?

Kristina Mand Lakhiani:

Well, as an entrepreneur and a co-founder of Mindvalley, I would say go to Mindvalley, but I’m only one of a whole parade of really amazing authors there. So if you want to know about me, specifically, then my Instagram, Kristina Mand, is the place.

Tatiana Berindei:

Excellent. So we’re talking with Kristina Mand Lakhiani today about parenting with authenticity. More when we get back, stay tuned.
