Kristin Maxwell:

Hello everyone. Welcome to Your SuperPowered Mind. I’m your host, Kristin Maxwell, and in this show, we explore the process of transformation and give you tools and strategies that you can use to transform your own life. Today, we have a treat. I am going to be talking to somebody about time management from a self-care perspective and who here couldn’t use a little bit more self-care and a little bit more time management?

We’re going to be speaking to Beatrice Naujalyte. Beatrice is the creator behind the Bliss Bean, a popular YouTube channel, which has planning and personal development tips. And her focus is to help those who are seeking to design a meaningful and joyful life. Since 2018, her channel has grown to over 250,000 subscribers and her videos on planning and organization have garnered over 10 million views. She also has a weekly newsletter and a podcast with thousands of listeners. The cool thing, the extra cool thing is that Beatrice is actually a college student. She is doing all of this as a youngster. I’m super interested in getting her perspective on how she got to be in this place and how she guides other people. Anyway, Beatrice, welcome to Your SuperPowered Mind.

Beatrice Naujalyte:

Thank you. Thank you so much for having me.

Kristin Maxwell:

It’s a delight. And so my first question is always, what superpower did you uncover as the result of mastering your mind?

Beatrice Naujalyte:

I would say one of the most important superpowers that I’ve discovered and started to use is time blocking my calendar. I found that it allows me to plan my time in a way that no other technique has helped me to figure out. And it also helps me to make sure that I’m scheduling enough time for relaxation and self-care and going about everything in the most efficient way that I can.

Kristin Maxwell:

That’s great. And I really want to get into some of the nuts and bolts of how you help people, and guide people to set up this kind of system. But how did you get involved in this, in starting your channel? But also, where did this need or this desire to work on time management and self-care come up?

Beatrice Naujalyte:

Sure. I would say that I’ve always been really interested in planning and organization. I really liked having my paper planners and organizing my schoolwork and making everything pretty but I would say I never really was able to pair that with time management until high school because up until then I was organized and I enjoyed planning but I was a huge procrastinator and I just didn’t know how to balance my time and my energy in an effective way. I think in high school when things just started getting a lot busier and I had a lot more on my plate was when I started realizing that I also needed to figure out the time management side of the equation. And once I started learning about that on the internet and experimenting with different techniques to find what worked for me, was when I really realized the power of these techniques to allow me to do all of the things that I was interested in with the limited amount of time that I had.

And then the reason that I started my YouTube channel was that another thing that I was always interested in ever since I was little was things like taking photos and writing and just making things to share with the world. And so I had dabbled with blogging since middle school. And then in high school, I took a videography class and I did an internship where I was producing a lot of videos. And so I thought, why not try blogging but in a video format? And that’s when I decided to give YouTube a try. I made my first video in 2018 and then I just kept making them and making them every week and luckily it started to grow and it grew way, way more than I ever imagined that it would.

Kristin Maxwell:

Yeah, that’s super. It’s really interesting. And you obviously stand out from people your age. I have a couple of college-age kids and they’re awesome but they are not creating things like this. Have you always been kind of a forward, go-getter, out there in front sort of person? Or is this a new thing for you? Just out of curiosity.

Beatrice Naujalyte:

I think so. As I said, when I was younger, I was pretty ambitious and things like that but I just wasn’t very good at time management. I was a procrastinator and so I often felt very overwhelmed because I was always trying to do everything and do it as well as I could. And then, it wasn’t until high school that I figured out how to do it in a sustainable way that didn’t burn me out. And I would say I always liked creating things. My parents always like to say that even when I was just a few years old, I would like to go around with one of the first digital cameras that they had and just take photos of random things in our house. I liked doing the yearbook in middle school. I did the school newspaper. I like making little videos of trips that I and my family went on. Making things is always a part of my life for sure.

Kristin Maxwell:

Yeah, definitely a creator. Well, I’m super excited to actually get into some of the nuts and the bolts about what you recommend for time management, for people who are completely disorganized and are looking to get some more organization. But first, we’re going to take a break. Can you let people know where they can find more about you and your work and all that you put out there?

Beatrice Naujalyte:

Of course. My website is theblissbean.com and on YouTube, my channel is called The Bliss Bean and on Instagram, it’s also @theblissbean.

Kristin Maxwell:

Great. Thank you. We’ll be back in a moment so hang on.
