How can art as a way of life allow us to create heaven on earth? In this episode of Wisdom of the Ages, host Ayn Cates Sullivan talks with guest Lucinda Rae as they try to answer this question. Lucinda is the creator of the Creative Life Circle for artists which was made in the middle of the pandemic. Lucinda shares that this initiative was made with the hopes of bringing joy, creativity, and her passion for making art and beauty to those who were feeling sad and hopeless. Join Ayn and Lucinda in today’s episode to discover the art of creating heaven on earth.
Welcome and blessings. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan, host of Wisdom of the Ages, Weaving the Sacred into Modern Day Reality. Each week I speak to a person who is the guardian of a particular type of wisdom, often an author or spiritual teacher. And I also offer monologues on spiritual awakening. So during these times of shift and change, it’s important to support what’s good and true and beautiful in others. We often have more in common than we realize. And today what we’re going to talk about is the art of creating heaven on earth. And this requires finding our spiritual friends, our spiritual community. Before I introduce my guest, Lucinda Rae, I want to tell you just a quick story about how I met her.
It was actually at this intentional community in a village called Sunburst. And I wanted to learn Kriya Yoga. This yoga was brought forward by a saint yogi named Yoga Nanda. And Norm Paulson was the man in our community that was teaching it. I met Lucinda Rae there, and there are certain people that you meet and you just know they hold a lot of light. That’s what they are. They’re lightkeepers. And I realized that not only was she a very spiritual person, but she also was a very talented artist and photographer, and graphic designer. And she’s helped me with a lot of my books. I think she’s created the covers on a lot of award-winning books, including Sparkle and the Gift, Sparkle in the Light, A Story of Becoming, Legends of the Grail, Heroines of Avalon. She just did the cover for Dr. Gabriel Cousens’ Spiritual Autobiography Into the Nothing.
She’s got the vision. She has a real eye for beauty, both physical and spiritual. But today we’re going to talk about her art circle, but also about the beauty that resides within each one of us and what can happen, particularly to women, when we think we have to be competitive or something, but what real beauty is something that connects us to the divine. So listen. I’m going to ask you to join us now and just tell us just a little taste about this Creative Life Circle for artists and we’re going to take a little ad break and then we’ll get really into the interview. So welcome.
Thank you. It’s good to be here. It’s amazing to hear about all the books we’ve done together. It’s like, yeah, we’ve done a lot of book covers and more, but it’s wonderful.
I love bringing forth the energy of your beautiful creation. So in my creation.
You have a new book too. You have a book that you did. Didn’t you illustrate Psalm 23?
Yes. In my first children’s book, I illustrated Psalms 23. It’s known as one of the songs of King David wrote and the “Lord is my shepherd,” as it typically goes. So, yeah, that’s really exciting.
That’s cool. Would you read it if you read a version of it at the end of the interview?
Sure, I’d be happy to.
Okay, wonderful. So give us the one-minute, little invitation into the Creative Life Circle for artists, then we’ll take the ad break.
Okay, I’ll try my best in one minute. The inspiration came to me when the whole pandemic quarantine thing happened back in March 2020, now. And I found a lot of people were feeling sad and hopeless and this and that. And I really wanted to bring joy and creativity and my passion for making art and beauty. And I created some online zoom classes and then this expanded and evolved into an online. I call it a Creative Life Circle. I created creativelifecircle.com and it’s really monthly. It has a monthly spiritual and inspirational theme. And so far I’ve created basically two. The first one is Painting the Inner Alchemist. It’s tapping into that inner alchemist within us, and then we paint it. And the second one is the harvest abundant divine feminine aspect. And so we’re painting that. And it’s really, so there’s each month there’s a theme and it’s just, it’s something I created from the love of what I like to paint.
I like to paint a lot of different things and a lot of different mediums. And I wanted to share my journey with people in a way that’s really accessible, really affordable. And I have a monthly subscription art website called Creative Life Circle. So I’ll be happy to share that.
We’ll find it. What’s the website?
You can get directions to that page at creativelifecircle.com. And I also have a podcast on the rest of the site.
And don’t you have lucinda-rae.com also?
Yeah, lucinda-rae.com is my portal site to all my art and all my offerings.
I loved looking at it last night and just catching all these colorful things that you’ve been doing. Okay. So check that out, lucinda-rae.com. Stay tuned. We’ll be right back.
