Activate Your Superpowers

Today is the first time I’ve had a Celtic Harpist on the show. This episode is centered around deepening personal and collective creativity, and also some creative spiritual fire. I’m hoping the goddess Bridget will show up. We’ll see what happens.

I like to begin each episode with a wisdom quote, and this is the quote of the day. It’s by Diana Rowan, and it goes like this: “In uncertain times, this is certain. Creativity and community are essential.” And, it’s true. We’re living in uncertain times. And so, it’s time that we call upon the creative forces that live within and around us. Creativity can lead us back to joy and resilience. It can help us step into a new paradigm.

So, my guest today is Diana Rowan, and we will be discussing creativity and why that matters today. Diana Rowan is the author of The Bright Way. She is a professional harpist and has performed on six continents. She founded the Bright Knowledge Guild to teach in the digital environment. Maybe you’ll tell us a little bit about that. She offers students around the world access to her system through an ongoing membership program. And, she lives in San Francisco. So, welcome, Diana!

Thank you. It’s great to be here.

I’m just curious. Let me just get this straight off the bat. How do we bring joy and resilience back?

I think joy and resilience are actually pretty natural states that we have. I mean, when you think about when you’re a kid, kids are incredibly joyful. They’re also incredibly resilient. One minute they’re crying like it’s the end of the world. The next minute, they’ve bounced back, which is the definition of resilience.

So, I think tapping into our creativity, which all of us have It’s innate within each of us. Our creativity is right there inside us. When we tap into that, we tap into who we truly are, and we truly are joyful and resilient creatures. So, I think by reengaging with your innate creativity. You don’t have to look outside for it, necessarily. Tapping into your innate creativity will bring you joy and resilience back into your life.

I love that. I think we can tap into our joy and resilience, and be co-creators.

Absolutely.

I understand you play the harp on a beautiful piece by Saint Catherine of Siena entitled Live Without Thought of Dying. Live Without Thought of Dying, right?

Yeah. She wrote this incredible poem. She’s a medieval mystic. But, the words sound very, very modern. And, when I found this poem, I felt so shockingly inspired by it. Do you know it was like a bolt of lightning? When I write songs and they’re inspired by a poem, I just read the poem out over and over again, like a chant. Eventually, a rhythm comes to me, and a melody comes to me. And, I wrote those down. I got a couple singers to sing the song, and I’m playing along on the harp. So, I got the words from Saint Catherine of Siena, and I wrote the music.

And, they’re two female singers. Bon Singer and Lily Storm, I believe?

Yes. Absolutely. Yeah.

That’s so good. So, we’re going to take an ad break, and when we come back, we’re going to play that piece of music. So, where can people find you? What’s your website?

It’s very easy. It’s my name, dianarowan.com.

Ooh. Okay. So, stay tuned. We’ll be right back.
