Welcome and blessings. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan, host of Wisdom of the Ages: Weaving the Sacred into Modern Day. And often in these interviews and monologues, we go on a variety of spiritual journeys. Now, one of the things that I love the most about running a publishing company and having a podcast is that I get to meet and work with fascinating people from around the globe. Each week on Wisdom of the Ages, I speak to a person who is the guardian of a particular type of wisdom, often an author or spiritual teacher. And you can find out many more exciting mystical episodes on superpowerexperts.com/wisdomof theages. And you can find lots of fairy tales and mystical books on infinitelightpublishing.com. Well, today I’m going to be interviewing an infinite life publishing author, Dr. Gabriel Cousens about his new really fascinating book, Into the Nothing, A Spiritual Autobiography.
Before I invite him on, I want to tell you a little bit more about him and his new book, Into the Nothing, A Spiritual Autobiography is about the wild, adventurous, mystical life that led to the liberation of Gabriel Cousens, M.D. The book takes us through the unique process of classical spiritual awakening and liberation and several paths, including yoga, poor cabalistic traditions, and also his experiences with the Lakota Sun Dance, Eagle Dance, and Spirit Dance. It includes Dr. Cousens’s unique teachings of spiritual nutrition and the Six Foundations and Seven Full Piece that creates a natural way of living that leads to the holistic liberation way. Welcome, Dr. Cousens.
Well, thank you, Ayn. Thank you for the good work that you’re doing and I’m so pleased to be working with you.
It’s so much fun to work with you. I’m absolutely loving it. Could you give our listeners a two-minute summary of this fantastic book?
Yes. I just actually put my cell phone on airplane mode for a second.
It’s been quite a journey doing this with Dr. Cousens going through each of the teachings. One of the things I love about the book is that when you open it up, there are teachings you can just flip from page to page and find these teachings and also beautiful plans. And I think we’ll be concluding with one of these plans. Yeah.
Okay. Into the Nothing describes my direct experiential path of liberation. It’s my own path but the truth is, it’s connected to the larger pieces but everyone’s a unique individual. Within the larger context, there is the more specific unfolding, okay? And I call this approach, the holistic liberation way. We’re including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of the path. And those are key, like the Six Foundations Seven Full Piece, which we could maybe talk about later. Now, shared in the spiritual autobiography is an example really of an authentically detailed description of my Kundalini awakening. Kundalini is the spiritual energy in different traditions. In the biblical, it’s called the Ruach HaKodesh and there are different names for it but it has to do with the awakening of that spiritual energy in that whole process.
I go into really great detail. In fact, one of the points I make in the book is that I think that detail was given to me so I can help a lot of people. And the truth is, in the West, the details of the spiritual anatomy aren’t so available. I do lay it out in this book because I know it helps people, okay? And it was also part of my work because I was also a psychiatrist and holistic physician, as well as, acknowledged liberated spiritual person. I was asked to do many things in my process including making the distinction between transcendence and psychosis, where I worked with Dr. Lee Sannella who wrote that particular book, so there’s a lot to go with it.
But it’s the description of the details of the Kundalini awakening, so you don’t think you’re crazy. And then the enfoldment and that liberation awareness, as it applies to my daily life. Daily life is key. One of the points I’m making is, our spiritual life is not separate from our daily life. And our daily life experiences, if we see it in the right perspective, all become potential teachings for us to really wake up.
That’s beautiful. We’re going to dive into this. We’re going to take a short break and when we come back, we are going to really dive into this book and what it means to be awake in this world right now. We can find you on drcousens.com and where else, Gabriel?
Yeah, it’s treeoflife.mn.co. as in Mighty Networks, dot mn, and dot co. So it’s treeoflife.mn.co. And the book has a website called, intothenothingbook.com.
Beautiful, okay.
And it’s through any of these, you can then order the book.
Absolutely. Okay, well stay tuned. We’ll be right back.
