Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Welcome friends and mystical travelers. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan, host of Wisdom of the Ages where we invite the sacred and to modern-day reality. And also sacred quests. So each week I offer interviews, spiritual monologues to inspire, heal, and uplift the soul. You can listen to many more episodes on superpowerexperts.com/wisdomoftheages.

I also have a lot of books you can go check out many fairy tales, myths, legends, and so forth. My own on ayncatesullivan.com and also on the publishing website, infinitelightpublishing.com. Although everyone’s hero or heroine’s journey is different, they tend to have similarities. So first of all, there’s a call to adventure. Then most of us decide that we’re too busy and there’s some reason we can’t do it. Then because of some event, we find ourselves on the quest. It might be a betrayal, the loss of a job, the breakup of a relationship. These days, potentially an illness. But suddenly, we’re traveling down the outer road, which is really an inner journey.

Somewhere on the quest, we leave the ordinary world behind, and that part’s really important. We enter the world of the imaginable, the dream world. Where we start to understand life in a new way. So in my book, Nimue: Freeing Merlin, my protagonist, Nina, finds herself time traveling back to the fifth century, discovering a time when Avalonian Priestesses still walked the land. What’s important about this journey is that in breaking ordinary reality, we begin to see with new eyes. So the heroin Heroine’s Journey takes us to the unknown, to the great mystery, the place where inner magic still resides. This is really important because that’s where we find things like elation and joy. So finding the elements of our true nature, basically finding the golden vessel that represents our value. We return to a more holistic sense of who we are.

I think, I personally think this is what life’s all about to evolve, to grow, to learn. I refer to this newfound wholeness that we get at the end of the quest as achieving the holy grail and of course not everybody achieves it. Anyway, I was very excited to read a lovely book called Katherine’s Quest: One Woman’s Journey To Elation. My guest today is the author Pat Alva-Kraker. We’re going to take this journey to elation. Let me tell you a little bit about Pat first. So Pat Alva-Kraker is an award-winning speaker, business consultant, and real estate private lender. She has been recognized by Women of Color, Leadership Texas, and the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas. I can’t wait to find out more. So she’s written her own heroine’s journey and this short novelette. It’s a sort of self-help book really called Katherine’s Quest: One Woman’s Journey To Elation.

The book is written in a journal style. It has a unique triplicity. So each chapter contains a story by the protagonist, Katherine, who happens to be going through a divorce. Moving from a large house to a small apartment. While clearing the attic, I think we’ll get into why it’s important to clear stuff away as we’re walking into the world of the imaginable. But anyway, while clearing the attic, she finds a journal by her beloved uncle who has been called to go on sacred journeys. So the second part of each chapter is the journal entry from Uncle Iman. That is Iman. Yeah, thank you. That is full of timeless wisdom. And the third part of the triplicity is self-help commentary from the author called Pat’s Musings.

So many world religions claim threes as sacred. The Christian faith focuses on the Holy Trinity. In Hinduism, there’s the Trimarga. In Greek mythology, we find The Three Graces. Barts and Storytellers in the British Isles often taught the importance of the Triads also. So here, Pat reminds us that on the journey to elation, there is more than one route and the signs are all around us to help us achieve our destination.

I’m going to read to you my favorite passage from the book. Then we’re going to take a quick ad break and I’m going to bring Pat on, but it goes like this. “I am satisfied with the here and now the woman said to be mindful of it all. And of course, to be happy with who I am, satisfied with me. It all starts here. Are you satisfied with your life, with who you are?” I think we can explore some of those questions soon. So if you want to check my guest out, you can go to majesticcoachinggroup.com. After this short ad break, we’ll have Pat on. We’re going to explore. We’re going to explore elation. So stay tuned. We’ll be right back.
