Ayn Cates Sullivan:
Welcome friends and storytellers. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan, host of Wisdom of the Ages. So each week I offer stories, interviews, and spiritual monologues to inspire, heal, and uplift the soul. And you can listen to many more episodes on superpowerexperts.com/wisdom-of-the-ages. And if you love mysticism and spirituality, you can find many tales to nurture your soul on my publishing website, infinitelightpublishing.com. So let me tell you why you’re going to be excited about this episode.
Several years ago, when I was struggling to figure out distribution and marketing and book sales, I ran across a woman who looked very savvy and I had thought I would give her class a go. So I tried her author remake and her mastermind course, and I’m happy to say that many of her techniques really worked for me. I’m also one of the authors included in a new Amazon and Barnes & Noble best-selling anthology called Quitless, which we’ll talk about a little bit more later on.
So let me tell you something about Alinka Rutkowska, who really knows how to turn books into bestsellers and sell books by truckload. Alinka is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, a top hundred Amazon best-selling author in business and money, and she has helped USA Today, bestsellers, CEOs, and movie stars with their book marketing. She offers group coaching, one-on-one training, and done-for-you services. She’s the author of How I Sold 80,000 Books and she has now helped over 30,000 authors, librarians, and entrepreneurs with their book sales. So welcome Alinka.
Alinka Rutkowska:
Thank you, Ayn. Thank you so much for having me.
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
I’m so happy that you joined us here, and I want to dive into what drew you into the publishing world and your whole personal story. But before we take this ad break, I want to just ask you this one really important question, which is, what is the number one mistake that authors make?
Alinka Rutkowska:
That’s a great question. Ayn, I love it. The number one mistake is authors decide to write the book that they have in their heart and publish it for the world to enjoy. And that might sound a little bit drastic on my end to say that, but that’s not necessarily a commercially viable book. And I’m more than happy to elaborate.
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
Okay. I think this is important. And you’ve focused on business books now, most don’t you.
Alinka Rutkowska:
Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
But you also have written children’s books. How many have you written?
Alinka Rutkowska:
Oh, a dozen.
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
Okay. All right. So what is your website? Where can people find you?
Alinka Rutkowska:
I hang out at leaderspress.com. That’s where everything that I do right now lives. So, you can go to leaderspress.com, wait for the annoying popup, and grab yourself a free ebook and audiobook of Outsource Your Book, if you don’t want to write the book, but you want to get it done.
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
That sounds great. So, okay, and I think we can find out more about the new anthology Quitless on quitlessbook.com. Is that correct?
Alinka Rutkowska:
We can, but I can also tell you more about Quitless. It’s also on Amazon when you type that in. So that’s a very fun anthology.
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
Okay. So let’s get into that in a minute. All right. So, we’re speaking with Alinka Rutkowska. And when we come back from this short break, we’re going to talk more about the art of selling books by the truckload and Quitless, a true story of trials, tribulations, and lessons. So, stay tuned. We’ll be right back.
