Aromatherapy & Horse Stories

Are you curious about aromatherapy and horse stories? How are these two things related to each other? In this episode of Wisdom of Ages, host Ayn Cates Sullivan and guest Pam Fisher talk about aromatherapy and how it benefits horses. Pam is dedicated to the natural care and training of sports horses. She has a degree in naturopathic medicine and is an avid aromatherapist, and now is certified to treat creatures, large and small. Currently, she is working on her Young Living Essential Oils. Please tune in and listen to Ayn and Pam to know more about Naturopathic Medicine and holistic health and how plants link our physical, emotional, and spiritual being.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Welcome mystical travelers. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan, host of Wisdom of the Ages, where we invite the sacred into modern day reality. So let me tell you why you’re going to be excited about this episode, called “Good Life : Aromatherapy and Horses”. My guest today is Pam Fisher, who is a lifelong horse woman, a woman who competes in Three-Day Events. So, Three-Day Events are really pretty grueling, so I have a lot of respect for her. That’s something. You have dressage, show jumping, cross country, it takes a lot.

So she’s dedicated to the natural care and training of sport horses. In 2013 Pam Fisher finished her degree in naturopathic medicine, and now is certified to treat creatures large and small. She’s also an avid aromatherapist, which is how I met her, and we’ll hopefully get back to that in a minute, it was fun. So she’s @pamholisticfisher on TikTok, which tells you something, and I enjoy watching Pam’s Facebook, “Musings From The Saddle”, with the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley in the background. She has a very special stallion named Sea Lion, and I hope she’ll tell us more about him, so welcome Pam Fisher!

Pam Fisher:

Hey, thank you so much for having me.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

I’m delighted we get to have this conversation today.

Pam Fisher:

Yes.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

So I don’t know anything about your stallion Sea Lion, apart from the fact that I’ve seen him on your website and he’s beautiful. Can you tell us more?

Pam Fisher:

Oh, he is, if I may say, he’s my soulmate. We have such a special connection. He’s 23 years old now and still breeding.

Ayn Cates Sullivan::

Wow.

Pam Fisher:

And he was given to me when he retired from racing. He’s a thoroughbred that raced in New York and his owner is a dear friend of mine, and she gave him to me with the idea that I would never geld him or he would never leave my care. And together, I was always into the sport of eventing, and internationally, I’ve had a wonderful go of it. Been long-listed for the Olympics a couple of times. And Sea Lion was one of those that the team selectors were looking at in 2012. Yeah, he’s really special. And I always told him if he took me to, the largest international event in this country is the Rolex event. And I always said, “If you take me to Rolex, I’ll let you start breeding.” So he did, he took me all the way to the international top sport, top of the sport and –

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Is it in Lexington?

Pam Fisher:

Yes, it is.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Wow. I walked that course one time, it looked terrifying.

Pam Fisher:

Yeah, it’s enormous. So he’s now got babies all over the world. Australia and Germany. Germany bought 40 doses of semen and Australia has semen and South and North America, all over the world now, we have babies. It’s very exciting. And they’re doing really well. The oldest ones now are just coming into, they’re not at the international level yet. It’s only been, I think the oldest one now is six, maybe? Six or seven years old, that’s competing.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Wow.

Pam Fisher:

So it’s a journey and it’s really fun, they all feel like my grandbabies.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Aw, well, they are! Of course, they are, if he’s your soulmate.

Pam Fisher:

It’s really exciting.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

That’s so beautiful. And I want to hear cause he’s 23 and he’s still a breeding stallion, which is unique, so I want to hear how you’ve taken care of him, I want to learn more about your holistic practice and more about the aromatherapy side of it too because when I met you, you were working with Young Living Essential Oils. I think you’re still going strong with that. So I want to take an ad break here, but I want to hear more about that. I think it can help a lot of listeners too. So where can people find your website? What’s your website?

Pam Fisher:

I have a couple. Course-wise, it’s ruffianstables.com.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

And I want to find out why it’s called Ruffian Stables. I have a clue, but, well, I’ll ask you that after the break. Okay. What are the other ones?

Pam Fisher:

And then myyl.com/pamfisher.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Yeah. That’s good. And Facebook, your Facebook is so fun because you have “Musings From The Saddle”, and the people that are still on Facebook, where would that be?

Pam Fisher:

Therapeutic Essential Oils, or just Pam Fisher on Facebook. They go to Pam Fisher in Los Alamos, California, they’ll find me or even Sea Lion, Sea Lion has his own Facebook page as well.

Ayn Cates Sullivan:

Oh, fun, I’m going to check that one out. Sea lion. I’ll check him out. I like seeing you riding your horse and talking about life with the Santa Ynez Valley in the background. That’s so fun. Okay. So hang on, we will be right back.
