Within a family, how does the reclamation of spirit infusing everything actually work? In its debut episode, Reclamation host Tonya Dawn Recla is joined by her husband Justin Recla, host of the Incorporating Superpowers podcast, and daughter Neva Recla, host of the Super Power Kids podcast. Together they give you a little glimpse inside the craziness, the wonderfulness, and the weirdness that is their existence as an inspired family. Join Tonya, Justin, and Neva for a super fun episode and learn how they manage it all.
Hello everyone, and thank you so much for joining us here at Reclamation. We are so incredibly excited about this debut episode. We’re just going to celebrate right now. So, you have three of the Reclas here. And we are so happy you’ve joined us. This show is designed to give you a little bit of a glimpse inside the craziness, the wonderfulness, the miraculous that is our existence as an inspired family, as those who are in pursuit of inspired personal development, the concept that spirit gets to infuse everything that we do, to include our relationships, especially our relationships. And so that’s what this show is all about. We get asked all the time to share how we do things, “Well, how do you manage this?” We do weird things here. We’re a three-income family, and we work together, we do school together, we play together, we do podcasts together, we do all kinds of fun stuff together because of this experience that we’ve had moving into that inspired personal development space.
And so, along those lines, I want to give you an opportunity to get to know Neva and Justin a little bit more in this episode so that you can hear some about what are the dynamics that really come into play when you allow each individual into a family to express fully as who they are, to be in pursuit of their wholeness. Those are a lot of fancy, beautiful words, but what does it look like? What’s the practicality? Are you all just always in love with each other and everything’s hunky-dory at the Recla house? No, not always. Trust us. And you will get to hear about it, I’m sure. So, I’m going to open it up to the other two and ask each of them to answer a question. So, Just, we’ll start with you. What is this crazy ride that we’re talking about here?
That’s a great question because a lot of people, I know, that we’ve been interacting with a look at us and try to figure out, “What is going on in that family?” What we’re talking about here is living life just truly authentically as we’re supposed to. And not only in relationship with each other, but in relationship with God and the divine, and leaning into that, first, before leaning into ego. And, as you said, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows, unicorns, and lollipops. That’s not the case here.
But what I love about our family is that everything that we do, when there is friction, and there is friction, it’s part of the journey. When there is friction, we don’t turn to ego first, we turn to love and God first, and from that place, friction goes away, and in that, we get to experience the miraculous, like, “Did that really just happen?” You’re like, “Yeah that just really happened.” And, folks, we’re going to talk about all of that on this show. And I’m just super excited to be here, and I’m so glad that we’re finally doing the show as a family because we’ve had our individual shows. This entire podcast show in itself, Reclamation, there’s going to be a lot of fun.
Beautiful. So, Neva’s 11, and she’s been in the podcasting space with us since she was seven, and in the business space with us, since she was two. So, what is it for you? How would you phrase up or how would you respond to that question?
So, that’s such an interesting question. I think a lot of people assume for me, especially since I’ve been in business since I was two, that I didn’t get much of a childhood. And I would say it’s quite the opposite, in the sense of I got more of a childhood because I got to do it a little bit backwards.
That’s nice. I like that. So, say more about that.
Yeah, what’s backward mean? I mean you started off as a 90-year-old woman?
Or like feet-first?
Yeah. So, I mastered the adult space, I mastered business from the age of two. I got to know that, I wasn’t really going to public school or anything, I was homeschooled, so I was just in my own little world, running a business, from a toddler. And then, last year, I started school last year, I got to master more of the kid space and start to see what that’s like. But I got to do it backward, but I got to master the kid space differently because I had all the adult experience.
I’ve seen that reflected, too. And I’m sure we’ll be diving into that more. But, for right now, we’re going to cut to a break. Before we do, part of what fascinates people about our existence is the how, how did we get there, how did we do this, and really the answer is, as Justin said, with God’s assistance, lots of prayers. And there are techniques, there are strategies, and our mission here, our ministry if you will, is to support others in this journey. And to that end, if you go to superpowerexperts.com, listening to this show, listening to a podcast episode each day is the first step in that process, and we outline those steps there. So, we welcome you here and we’re so glad you’re with us.
If you’ve been hanging out in the network for a while and you’re listening to a podcast episode each day and you’re now attuned to these conversations, we’re going to encourage you along a little bit on that path and to take step two and join us in the IM series.
