Hello everyone and welcome, I’m Jennifer Urezzio Super Power Expert and founder of Soul Language, and this is SuperPowers of the Soul, and I get to talk to Neva Lee Recla today. She is the host of Super Power Kids show, freaking amazing. Oh, I’m not so sure if I should say freaking around a kid. And among other topics, we are going to chat about kids in business. Welcome, Neva, how are you?

I am amazing how are you?

I am amazing too. I mean, let’s just talk about how much just pure gumption you have. I mean, I wish I was like you, just half as, you know, I was younger, so amazing. So, of course, you know the first question I’m going to ask is what is the superpower do you feel is the superpower of your soul?

I love being weird and crazy

I love being weird and crazy.

What I feel the super power of my soul is, is just being myself and no matter what other people think, and I love being weird and crazy, and my house is the best thing ever. So if someone calls me a weirdo or something I just take it as a complete compliment.

Well said. I mean that … it took me a long time get there. I mean, I think I was personally okay with being called a weirdo, but I was a little defensive about it. So you are an amazing superpower. So you know … your welcome, so, so often I talk to people about what their secret purpose is, meaning what they’re here to really experience, not just for themselves, of course, because that’s extremely important, first we do it for ourselves. And then to share that with others. What do you feel you secret purpose is?

Oh, I feel like it’s just showing kids that their business can be their playground because I’ve been doing it, my business, since I was two years old, and I love showing kids that, no matter what other people think. They can do whatever they want to, and that’s what I want to teach kids. I want to show them that no matter what other people think, no matter if people say that it’s a crazy idea, but they can do whatever they want to do and whatever they’re inspired to do.

Beautiful. So tell me what exactly is your business, because we all know it’s not a lemonade stand, so what is your business? What do you offer? What are your products, like who do you serve? Tell me more about that.

I feel like it's just showing kids that they're business can be their playground

I feel like it’s just showing kids that they’re business can be their playground.

So I have run six businesses, actually, and so my first one I started off by selling Italian glass bracelets, and one of my friends gave me a giant bowl of Italian glass bracelets and when I was two, and said, “I could sell them for $10, and I can keep the profits,” and so that’s how I started off. At first, I asked my parents, “Can I have my own business cards,” because I saw that they were handing out business cards, and I’m in the middle of writing a book right now, and it’s called When Pigs Fly and it’s the parents guide on how they can inspire their young entrepreneur. I am starting a course called Yes, Young Entrepreneur Secrets and I’m doing my interviews on Super Power Kids.

That’s a lot. I’m thinking about your book, and I’m like, “Wow,” I’m sure that every entrepreneur, even young or old, could really utilize that. I think so often, especially when we do business we forget the sense of play. We forget that sense of wonder. We forget that sense of discovery that you naturally have as a kid, and I think as we grow we lose that. So let me ask you what is common like a theme that your soul shares with you?

A common theme is, like I said earlier, just being crazy and being weird, but it’s also inspiring others to be themselves, and I love being myself, and I used to do a business called Hot Clothes for Kids, and I got a lot of criticism on that for using the word Hot in my business or I like to wear crop tops myself, and people said that those were too inappropriate and I didn’t care because I knew that I supported my family and my sister and my parents and I have supported myself, and I knew that was all I needed to keep ongoing.

What would you say to a kid or anyone, in fact, that’s getting some pushback about who they are? What would you tell them?

So I guess if someone was criticizing them or something?

Exactly.

Well, what I would say is first off, “Do you believe what this person is saying?” And then I would say, “You’re perfect the way you are,” and that, “Don’t let anyone tell you who you are and what you’re not,” and I’d probably share some of my stories with them, because one of the things that … two of the things that really tick me off is when people think they can tell me what to do, and if people just try to tell me what to do, I tell a lot of my friends, like if they think that like one of their friends parents can tell them what to do I’m like, “I don’t listen to anyone that tries to tell me what to do unless my parents gave them permission to tell me what to do.”

And I also, when I first started my business, I wanted to do it a different way, and I wanted to do it a way that was different and was fun and with people, and so I would just share some of the stories with them, and tell them that everything’s going to be okay in that no matter what other people think I think they’re amazing.

You know that’s really beautiful. You’re welcome. We’re going to talk a little bit after the break, about not people telling you what to do, because we share that in common. But I want to go back to something. I think it’s really important that people, whether big or small, whether old or young, really have those people in their lives that keep reinforcing that they’re perfect just the way they are. That they are whole and complete. I think that’s a big theme that our souls share with us. So my last question before the break here is how do you feel that your soul supports others. I mean, you talked a lot about several ways, but what’s another way you feel like your soul supports others?

My parents always supported me

My parents always supported me.

Well, the way I feel my soul supports others is showing them that it’s okay to be different and that now all they need is the support of themselves to do all the crazy things they want to do because that’s one of the biggest things that helped me is also knowing that your family is supporting you. My parents always supported me, knowing when I was two years old that this little two-year-old had the crazy idea to start handing out business cards, and I’m looking back on that now, and one of the things I say in my book is weird is my normal.

Weird is my normal.

Thank you, so I like to do things a different way. I like to do things maybe what other people might think is weird or call me a weirdo, but I just take it as a compliment, so yeah.

So, before we do the break here we’re are talking to Neva, host of Super Power Kids Show. Neva, please let everyone know how they can get in touch with you. How they can connect with you and how they can find you.

Well, how you can find me is you can go to my website, nevaleerecla.com, and you can find out a bunch more about me, and what I’ve been up to.

Beautiful.

Thank you.
