Are you a mom who is struggling to have vibrant health? Do you end up in the background when things start to get too overwhelming? In this episode of SuperPower Mommas, host Laura Greco talks with guest Meagan Wood, on her experience of tapping into her heart and not just taking on the title of the mother or working mom or a stay at home mom. She advocates for moms to see themselves as a woman, a person who contributes to the world. Listen in and learn how to tap into your intuition and to the heart of vibrant health.
Hello everyone and welcome. I’m Laura Greco, one of the podcast hosts at SuperPower Up, and you are listening to SuperPower Mommas. And today we’re speaking with all of you busy, hardworking moms, and we want to explore getting to the heart of vibrant health. This goes without saying that you’re often as busy as givers and nurturers and trying to make everything work in your life and with your families, that often you’re the one that ends up in the background because when it becomes too overwhelming, something gives and usually that’s us as moms, right? Well, in the course of life, we often find ourselves in that position, and then little by little, our heart, our health starts to decline, our energy starts to decline and all of this actually leads to a diminishing of joy, which also affects our parenting in ways that we would prefer that not to happen.
And so my guest today, Meagan Wood is a beautiful example of a woman who is not only aware of this for herself but is interested in discussing vibrant health with all of you and really servicing moms. Before I let her speak, I just want to say a few things about her because when I met her, she was this quiet little person on a call we were on together, and yet when I got to know her, I got to see such beauty and I believe that all moms have that. And so she describes her life actually as a wife and a mother of two darling boys. Isn’t that beautiful? Yeah, she traveled, and this is interesting, she traveled to devastating regions of the world while serving a need with the youth of a mission in 2007 through 2009, and then she came back to achieve her bachelor’s of science in psychology. That in combination with her future husband that she met, who was also very interested in health, she and he band together to really go into the root of health.
He inspired her and is what I’m understanding. Anyway, her experience in the heart work, as well as becoming a mother herself, is what inspired her to go into the Institute of Integrative Nutrition School, which is how we met, and alongside, she really wants to. She says, “My heart is to come alongside busy moms as they journey through nourishing their minds, their bodies, and soul while raising their children and thriving in their careers and enjoying and supporting their partners. Our bodies are like a garden. In order to flourish, our seeds first must fall upon and take root in good soil. My work is founded upon this principle, living a vibrant, healthy life begins at the cause or the root. Lasting change begins in our hearts.” And therefore she has founded a business called Berries and Water. So welcome, Meagan. I’m so excited to have you here.
Hi, Laura. I’m just so thrilled to be asked to be a part of this today. Thank you for having me.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, I am, as I said, I was very inspired by your story and your journey, and I felt that, Wow, this would be a great person to have on the show and also to discuss this very important topic of moms, getting to the heart of vibrant health. So to begin our discussion, as usual, we like to ask all our guests, what is your superpower, your momma superpower?
My superpower as a momma is my intuition and I know that a lot of things that you discuss here on this podcast are tapping into your intuition. And I feel as though I have really accessed that at a young age before I became a mom and it’s just now turning into something that I use now as a mother, being able to stay in tune with my boys and to really advocate for them and advocate for what they need at certain times, and also to advocate for myself and my husband and my household. So just being able to stay in tune and present and aware has really been beneficial for me and my family.
Beautiful. That’s so beautiful. And I’m sure that that’s served you in every aspect of your life. I’m curious about your mission work and how that also perhaps informed how you’re moving forward as a mom.
Yes. So it’s actually, when you go through these experiences, especially as a young adult, I was 18, 19 years old and I’m at that point, it’s an adventure and it’s exciting and you don’t really unpack fully what the experience has given you. And as the years have gone by, after meeting my husband and getting married and having children, it’s really just given me an awareness of the world. I come from a really small town and so getting out and experiencing people, different types of people, different types of cultures and religions have just been foundational into having a worldview for me that I hope to instill in my boys.
Yeah. Yeah. The world suddenly becomes more real when we’re not just in our own little hometowns, right?
Yes, exactly.
There’s so much more clear life than that, huh? Well, you founded this actually brand new business, right, which is really exciting.
Yes, it is. Exciting, overwhelming, as you know, I’m a relatively new mom, my boys right now are one and three and yes, so taking on this new project, I really felt like moms, they don’t get heard. We are misunderstood as women and I feel as though it’s something really powerful that gets overlooked. Just being able to tap into our hearts as people and not just taking on the title of a mother or working mom or a stay at home mom, but really just as a woman, as a person, as someone who contributes to the world. And I think it’s something that really needs to be delved into and that’s part of what I’m doing with Berries and Water.
Beautiful, beautiful. Well, and where can we find this? I would love our listeners to know where they can before we go for a break.
