Kids Talk꞉ Finding Your Identity
What does it mean to find your true identity? The process of identity discovery is never easy for most people. In this episode of Superpower Mommas, host Tatiana Berindei is with Neva Lee Recla for another Kids Talk. They will answer questions like “can an identity be fluid?” and “what is it underneath that never changes?”. This episode will also teach parents the proper process of talking with their kids about identity. It should be two-way: parents and children should help hand-in-hand for children to know their genuine selves. Tune in to hear worthwhile lessons on how to find your identity.
Tatiana Berindei:
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Superpower Mommas podcast. I’m your host, Tatiana Berindei, and we’ve got another Kids Talk series for y’all today. Lucky you. I’ve got Neva Lee Recla here, and we are going to be talking about finding your identity today. If you have not listened to our other Kids Talk episodes, you’re going to definitely want to go back and do that. You can go to superpowermommas.com and go and find all of our previous Kids Talk episodes there. But Neva, I’m just so excited to be doing this with you and so happy to have you back on the show again for another installment of Kids Talk.
Neva Lee Recla:
Thank you. I’m really excited about this, and I think most of our conversations always end up on some level of identity, but I’m excited for that to be the main focus of our conversation today.
Tatiana Berindei:
And I think it’s totally appropriate that a lot of our conversations land there because you are 12 and this is a big part of being that age. And coming into that time is figuring out, who are we? And it doesn’t stop there. There are maybe some parents listening to this who are still asking themselves that question and redefining themselves. I don’t think that identity has to be a fixed construct. We’ll dive into all of that juiciness, of course, as we always do. But before we dive into our conversation, Neva, do you want to just tell people what you’ve been up to and where they can go to also find out more about you and your work and what you’re doing in the world?
Neva Lee Recla:
Absolutely. I’m basically everywhere. You can find me all over social media, mainly on Instagram under my name, Neva Lee Recla. And you can go to my website, superpowerkids.com if you want to stay in touch with all the things I’m doing in the world. And honestly, by the time this airs, my new podcast might be out soon, Leave It To Neva, which will be launching in today’s time very soon. That’s where I’ll be having similar conversations to these, but mostly monologues or with different guests and staff. So yeah, go check me out.
Tatiana Berindei:
Yes. Go check out Leave It To Neva, and come and play with us in the community. Neva’s in there too. So am I. The community is a really beautiful place to come and engage directly with us, with the hosts of these shows, with our coaches in the programs. There are some really juicy offerings that we’ve got going through there. You can find them over at superpowerexperts.com. If you get on the Get Together tab, go down under there and find the community link, and just come explore with us. Your first 14 days are free. If you want to just come and check it out and get a feel for what we’re up to in there, we’d love to have you and get to see your faces and hear your voices, or you can also just show up and be a fly on the wall at some of our meetings, too. That works. But do come over to superpowerexperts.com and play with us there.
Okay. Neva and I, we’re going to just go to a quick break before we dive into the meat and potatoes of this conversation, because who wants to cut off the juice that likes to flow between the two of us when we get going? So, we’ll be right back. We’re talking with Neva Lee Recla on our Kids Talk series about finding your identity, and we’re going to dive in in just a moment, so don’t go anywhere.
