Listen in to get inspired and know how you can build the confidence you need to pursue your dreams.

Hello everyone, this is your Super Power Kid, Neva Lee Recla. I am so excited for today’s interview, we are going to be talking about how to pursue your dreams. Pursuing your dreams is so important and I think the biggest part of it is, you have to keep your mindset on it. And also you have to be willing to get outside of your comfort zone and be yourself all the time. Our guest today knows exactly what that’s like. Her name is Jennie Edwards. We met at Steve Olsher a little while back. She has been living her passion since 2007. She’s the owner of Guided by Imagination Photography. She works with people to empower them, to be empowered in front of the camera. And also, I think she teaches them how to really embrace themselves. She is so awesome and creative, definitely a kid at heart. So without further ado, will you help me welcome our guest, Jennie? Hi Jennie.

Hey, what’s up?

How are you? I’m so excited for this interview.

Yay! I’m excited too.

So, let’s jump right into it. I’m so excited to talk with you today. What are your superpowers?

Well, that’s an awesome question. I think my superpowers are helping people feel more confident, be more authentic, like the real you, and feeling really safe in your skin, like being you and being open minded and accepting of others, which is so important, especially right now, as the world is changing. Just helping people really tap into their own personal power.

Yeah. That’s really important. And also I love how you talked about superpowers and that is something that definitely matters to me. And I think a huge part of that is, you have to be, like I said earlier, you have to be willing to fully embrace yourself.

Yeah. I’m totally embracing my kids as I’m teaching. Here are some baby sounds of my six month old baby.

Oh so cute. Is she your only child?

I have a four year old daughter also.

So sweet.

Yeah.

And I think, also a big part of life is, I can speak for myself and my parents, as we’ve been doing business together for as long as I can remember. And I think, one of the biggest parts of it is, we were always willing to work together. And I think that’s something really important in business. And even if you’re not doing it with your parents or you’re not doing it with your kids, you have to be willing to go into it with that relationship, open mind.

Yeah, absolutely. Open-mindedness is key.

And also, I remember when we met at New Media Summit and, I remember there was a dance floor and there was a DJ, a light up dance floor, everybody’s dancing. And I think that’s something awesome to look at is, in business conferences or in business, how are you having fun? How are you truly embracing yourself in that? And also I think, if you’re not living yourself in business and you’re not embracing it, then it’s kind of hard to do life, in that sense.

Yeah, absolutely. I actually was thinking about one of my mottos is, if it’s not fun, what’s the point?

Exactly.

Because everything should be fun. And how can you have fun in every moment? No matter what you’re doing, if it’s something like, Uh, I have to do this, but like, Oh, I get to do this.

Exactly.

Just make light of it.

Exactly. And I think that if in your work you feel like it’s working or you feel like you have to work at it, then maybe you should change your perspective on it. And I actually had an interview, I had two guests on, we talked about work hard and play harder. And they’re actually from New Media Summit, as well. And we were talking about how you have to have that fun, because if you forget about the fun, then like you said, what’s the point?

Yeah. And I feel like you get what you give. So as a mom, I was noticing this yesterday. I was getting really aggravated with my four year old because she wasn’t listening to me and I just wanted her to clean up and like, “Let’s put away the toys” and I was getting all serious. And then she was getting all serious with me and I was like, how can this just be more fun? I just want to have some. It’s a good reminder for parents.

Exactly. And I can speak from being the child where I’ve had my moments of… Sometimes I’m just crabby, whether I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I didn’t sleep well, I’m hungry, or whatever. Sometimes when someone’s super nice to you, but you’re just not in a great mood, so then, sometimes you can’t be very nice to them. That’s happened to me and my parents and they’re being so nice to me. And they’re like, “Come on. Let’s find the frequency. Let’s raise the frequency. Let’s have fun.” And I’m just all grumpy pants and I’m not finding the fun in it. I think that’s something really awesome to look at how others are treating you and think about… I’m flipping the roles for a second. If other people are treating you with kindness and love and respect, you treat them the same way. Same way as if you aren’t treating someone nicely. I probably would expect the same thing from them.

Absolutely. I guess Ariel has something to say about it too.

Hey, you know what? I love having babies on my show. So, she brings a great perspective to the table. Thank you so much Ariel, for sharing. We do have to jump into break really quickly. I could keep talking with you about this for days, but Jennie, where can people go to find out more about you?

They can go to my website at yourdynamicstory.com
