Jeffrey Goodman joins Neva Lee Recla to talk about heart centered business. Jeffrey is one of Neva’s book sponsors for When Pigs Fly: The Parent’s Guide to Inspire Your Young Entrepreneur. Jeffrey also enjoys following his heart and encouraging others to do the same. He says that if he was going to flourish he had to evolve. Listen in to hear the two share their insight on how you can be heart centered in your business and life.

Hi everyone. This is your Super Power Kid, Neva Lee Recla, and today we’re going to be talking about something super fun. We are talking about heart centered business.

So what heart-centered business means to me is staying in love and high frequency, no matter what happens in your life and business. Because when you do what you say you can do and you are in full integrity with the people that you’re doing business with, that can also play into your life and what you do because that can show people another side of you. And so being heart centered in your business is really important.

Today we’re going to be talking with Jeffrey Goodman. He is one of my book sponsors, and I’m so grateful that he is coming on the show today because he is awesome and he believes in following his heart.

So without further ado, will you help me welcome our guest, Jeffrey?

Hi Jeffrey.

Hi. Nice to see you again.

Nice to see you.

So how are you?

I’m good. How are you?

Good. Are you getting ready for Halloween?

Oh yeah.

I’m sorry, what’s your costume going to be?

I’m going to be a Squatty Potty Unicorn.

That is awesome, that is so cool.

Thank you.

You’ll have to send me a picture.

I will. So what are your superpowers?

I have a lot of superpowers, probably more than just one. And since we’re at Halloween, I brought a whole bunch of masks today, so I figured we could do different masks for different superpowers.

That’s awesome.

Like this one. And I want to know some of your superpowers too, so maybe we can kind of share back and forth.

Yeah.

Okay. So I think a funny, favorite superpowers of mine is that I’m really good at making smiley face pancakes.

That’s a good superpowers.

They feel better about themselves.

That’s a good superpowers, especially when people are having bad days, I’ll come over and I’ll make them smiley face pancakes and they feel better. They feel better about themselves.

That’s cool.

So that’s a good one. So what’s a superpowers of yours that you have?

I have something called chameleon ability, which means that I can shift my energy based on how people act and how people talk. And so I can shape shift my energy, if that makes sense.

Totally.

And so one person over here may be a little bit more energetic and a little bit more upbeat, and so with them, I’ll probably want to shift my energy to a good balance. But then somebody else may be a little bit quieter, introverted, so I’ll want to shift my energy into that and then I can change roles. So that’s one of them.

And that’s a really important one and I can see that because it helps other people when you meet them where they’re at. And when you meet them with that, then they can feel comfortable with you and with themselves. I think that’s really good superpowers. I like that.

Yeah, thank you.

How about another one? I’ve got another one. I want to wear a different mask. Let’s see. I’ve got so many.

So as you’re putting on your mask, how do you do heart centered business and what does that mean for you?

How do I do heart-centered business? Heart-centered business, for me, is doing what you love and because it’s business, you’re doing what you love and can create abundance, whether it be money or something else around doing it. A heart centered business is part of who you are at the center. So it’s that kind of expression. You have fun doing it, you enjoy doing it. It’s not always easy, but it really makes you happy, and that’s what heart business is, just doing what you love.

That makes sense. And that’s kind of what it means for me, especially for me, it’s staying in integrity because that’s kind of what we talk about in this house. We talk about being in integrity and you have a meeting and you need to cancel it, don’t cancel it an hour before. Cancel it when you know is a good time, like 24 hours or 12 hours before the meeting. And also being involved in integrity with yourself because in business, when you lie to someone, you’re lying to yourself. And then it gets to a point where you can’t tell the right from wrong, truth from lies. It’s a messy situation. But as long as you stay in, listening to your heart, you’ll be fine.

That’s it. That’s the most important part. So let me ask you this, because I know I struggle with this: When I do advising, coaching for other businesses, when we do our business, obviously on these things you’re doing things you love to do. How do you, for yourself, work through things when you have to do something and you don’t love doing it, it’s not making you happy but you know it needs to get done?

That’s a good question. I would say I do a lot of things.

Okay.

It depends on my energy and it depends on the situation. If it’s something that I’m a little bit aggravated about, sometimes for me, it’s going into my room and throwing a pillow and punching it and beating it up. Or sometimes, it’s going on a walk and thinking about, “Maybe I could’ve changed this” or “How can I move through this?” and I’ll walk my dog to help me get some energy out. I’m also a swimmer, so swimming for me helps. And then it’s like movements, and then if I am exercising or doing something fun that I love, I can get to a point where maybe I’m in a better state of mind.

That’s so brilliant. I really like that answer.

Thank you.

That’s something that we often forget because when we’re working, we’re often stare in front of the computer and it gets aggravating in that, just that movement can shift. And if we shift our physical body, it shifts our mind too. So I like that. That’s good.

Thanks.

Does it make them happy when they’re by themselves and does it make them happy when they’re helping other people?

I love swimming too and I don’t do enough of it. So it’s a good reminder.

Yeah. I have a question. So what advice would you give someone that, if they maybe want to find a better way to be heart centered, what advice would you give them before we go into the break?

Got it. I think I would give them advice, is really checking: Does this meet all their happiness in the different areas? Does it make them personally happy? Does it make them happy when it comes to success? Does it make them happy with friends? Does it make them happy when they’re by themselves and does it make them happy when they’re helping other people? So just to check if they’re happy in all those different areas.

Yeah, something that I do is, here’s an example: My parents give me free rein in what I eat. So I really enjoy cooking. I’ve made breakfast a few times and I cook a part of our dinner one night. So they give me free rein in what I eat and sometimes I’ll ask, “Hey is it smart to have this type of ice cream?” And they go, “Well, saying you had a breakfast smoothie this morning with tons of sugar in it, probably not, but it’s your body and we can’t speak for you.” So thinking and kind of listening to yourself and listening to your heart about how this affects me.

So really quickly. I want to keep talking about this more, but before the break, where can people go to find out more about you?

If they go to my website, careerhearted.com, that’s where they can find out about me and about the business course. I just made it that name because we used to talk about being career minded, good at business. I thought if we can get career hearted, let the heart do the thinking. We have a whole different way to do business. That’s the website they can find out about me.

Awesome. So definitely go check his website out because he is awesome. So we’ve been talking to Jeffrey Goodman about heart centered business. We’ll be right back.
