Hey everyone. This is your Super Power Kid, Neva Lee Recla. I am so excited about today’s interview. We’re going to be talking all about having fun in business.
Our guest today is super, super special and I think she knows all about having fun in business. In my opinion, as kids, we can bring the fun side of the business to the table and it is so important to see that fun side of everything. So our guest today is named Morissa Scott. She is outgoing. She likes to sing, dance, and draw. Her slogan is, Kids Just Want to Have Fun. She’s the author of the upcoming book, Morissa’s Lemonade Stand and she is an owner of a lemonade stand. She is super awesome and I’m so excited about this conversation. So without further ado, will you help me welcome our guest, Morissa?
Hey, Morissa, how are you?
Good.
Awesome. I’m so excited for this interview. So let’s jump right into it.
Morissa, what are your superpowers?
My superpowers are to change the world by having lots and lots of fun.
Oh wow. That’s a great superpower. That’s a really awesome, superpower to have because also that’s something I believe. My goal is to inspire 1 million kids to do business and I also heard in your bio that you want to inspire kids to start doing great things in the world and I think a huge part of that is you have to start with yourself first. So I think it’s awesome that you started that.
So Morissa, how old are you?
Seven in a half.
Seven and a half. Oh, that’s a good age. Now, that’s around the time I started this podcast. So that’s kind of cool.
Now really fast. So I know everything going on in the world right now is kind of crazy but do you go to public school or are you homeschooled?
Homeschool now.
Homeschool now. Were you going to a public school before?
Yes.
That’s cool. That’s really cool. You know, I’ve always been homeschooled. So to me, nothing really changed but I think it’s really cool talking to people where this has affected some people. Like, what’s it like being in school and then all of a sudden you’re not. I think it’s kind of cool.
Morissa, what advice do you have for someone else around your age, who wanted to write a book or wanted to start a business? What advice would you give them to really start?
I would tell them that you have to be confident in your book and not just like having fun, just looking forward to the book.
Awesome. That is great advice and I remember when I was writing my book, it took me literally two years to write. It’s the only book written by seven, eight, and nine-year-olds. The same person, that’s me. It came out when I was nine and it took me forever to write because of how hard it was to get the information out. But then, as you said, you have to be confident and look forward to it, and then when you are excited about something, it’s so much easier to get it done.
So what is your favorite part about being a kid in business?
It’s about having a family to care about you for now.
That’s really cool. I think that’s one of my favorite parts is you can do it with your family.
Also being a kid entrepreneur.

That’s a good, favorite part about being a good entrepreneur. And I think as you said, is being with your family because when you’re an entrepreneur, also one of my favorite parts is, guess what? I’m my own boss and so I have no one else telling me what to do, except when I’m working within our business, which I do. Which I do. That sounds weird. But except when I’m working within my business, I can do whatever I want, which is pretty cool. Obviously, following the guidelines of being a business owner, I get to do pretty much anything. It’s kind of cool.
So, Morissa, I could keep talking with you for days because also I am so inspired by you because one of my favorite parts about doing this podcast is I get to talk with amazing kids like yourself, who are doing awesome things in the world at such a young age.
But we, unfortunately, have to get into the break. Well, actually it’s not unfortunate because that just gives us more time to keep talking but where can people go to find out more about you?
So where’s your website and where can they reach out?
That’s a good question.
Here’s a better way to reframe it. What’s your website?
It’s morissascott.com.
Awesome. Definitely go check out morissascott.com because Morissa is so awesome, so inspirational and I think we could all learn a lot from this amazing kid.
So we’ve been talking to Morissa Scott, all about having fun in business and we’ll be right back after the break.
