The Power of Community

What is the power of community? Why do we need to have a community to relate to and interact with others? In this episode of Reclamation, The Reclas: Justin, Tonya, and Neva talk about the power of having a community. They Reclas share how the various communities they were in shape them into who they are today and helped them with their journey to creating their community.  Tune in and discover how being in the community is the key to success and why we need people to uplift us in our journey.

Justin Recla:

Welcome back to Reclamation. Today we’re going to shake it up a little bit and call out some truths that I think a lot of people realize and a lot of people are seeking and looking for, and they just don’t know what that is. And we’re going to be talking about the power of community and why is that important? Well, I’m going to just start off by saying, for me, I had been looking for a community my entire life. I never really fit in anywhere. I was always on the outs here, on the outs there. I could blend in places, but I’ve never really felt true that I fit in anywhere. And of course, my own journey has been my own journey and so forth.

And whether or not you like him or not, whether or not you agree with him or not, there was a song written by Garret John LoPorto who… I don’t know how long ago it came out. I don’t know. 2012 or something. It’s called The Wayseer Manifesto. And it starts with, “Attention all you rule-breakers, you misfits, you troublemakers.” And then, it was a calling from there on out to do something different, do something bigger. And that song inspired me to build a community. As a matter of fact, our very first business venture Team, TJ Recla. Right. Our focus was to bring together all the way seers, all the lightworkers, all the people into a single location. And of course, we learned what we needed to learn on how not to build that.

But it led us to exactly where we’re at, and that’s the Superpower Experts, and the Superpower network, and more importantly, the Superpower Universe Plus community that we now offer and where we’ve got the safe place for the misfits, the troublemakers, that ones that are the outcasts, the ones that have been told that they don’t fit anywhere or that God doesn’t love them, whatever that looks like. We’ve built that now.

And I think there’s value in understanding that no matter where you’re at in your life, no matter where you’re at in your walk, that the power of community, it’s the key to success in that you are going to go so much farther than that in life when you have people to surround you and uplift you on your walk and in your journey. And none of this would have been possible if, well, if Tonya hadn’t heeded the invitation. That was one of our last episodes. You can go take a look and listen to what that show was about, The Invitation. But the invitation came, I knew, at least from my part, was to help build that community. So, Tonya, I want to start with you, community, why is it important?

Activate Your Superpowers

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Well, I wasn’t really sure it was. And when part of the guidance was to get people to work together, bring everyone into the same conversation, I remember very politely declining that invitation. Having-

Justin Recla:

That didn’t go well for us.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

That didn’t go well. And having some conversations with God along the way, because I wasn’t a joiner, right? I wasn’t a team player. I wasn’t really all that keen on group work when I was going through school. My journey had been very individual. And of course, God knows exactly what they’re doing, and here we are. And I had to get over that. What I was missing in that equation was that it’s not just that these were brothers and sisters, these were me. And we have to come to that realization and we have to recognize that Jesus didn’t just mean what you do to these people, you do it to me also, you do it to yourself. We can’t continue to interact with each other in these energetically toxic ways and not recognize that we are creating the very thing and the projections that we are scared of because we’re continuing to come from these places of separateness and divisiveness.

And so, that was my walk. That’s what I had to get to. It wasn’t optional. It wasn’t like God was giving me a choice saying, “Well, you can keep walking on your own or you can do what’s behind door number two.” There is no door number one, you have to go through door number two, which is the realization that you are them and they are you. And it goes far beyond loving God and loving each other, it’s recognizing that we are one and it is just love.

And that’s a trippy sort of way to experience your life, but it starts with recognizing that we have to come together in a community. We have to have intentional communities. I know a lot of you have been hurt by joining groups, maybe churches, maybe other organizations, whatever it might be for you, but we have to keep trying. Look for the places where you know in your heart that you are loved and a place that’s reflecting God’s love. You might feel challenged in those places, but you should never feel small in those places, right? All you should see reflected in your bigness. It might scare you and it might create some triggers and some friction in the group, but you, at the heart of it, should always know that God’s love is present in that community and that’s a place you can relax into and get support as you walk your own individual journey with God.

Justin Recla:

Yeah. And we’ve journeyed through quite a few communities before we started building our own. And some of them felt good and we stay connected and we use those communities to help us build our platform and our purpose and help them stand in our gap. Right. And then we’ve been part of other communities that we stepped into that on the surface felt good, but when you got into it, it was really just more of the run to the back of the room by my staff, and you don’t get to come to play here unless you pay me tens of thousands of dollars. And there was no love in those communities. It was all results-driven and money-driven. And it didn’t resonate with us.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Well, I would actually argue with the results-driven part.

Justin Recla:

No, yeah.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

I would think it was attachments-driven.

Justin Recla:

Attachments drove, that’s right.

Tonya Dawn Recla:

Because of the results, they’re failing.

Justin Recla:

Yeah. And it was this preconceived notion of like, you can only come… It’s an all-exclusive community and you can only… I mean, it was just ugliness, right? The filters that they put in place to weed people out weren’t inclusive and it limited how far you could actually go in it actually. Right. And so, we’ve been through multiple communities. And what I love about what we’ve done is that we’ve built our own. We see the power of it. We get feedback from the members all the time. So Neva, what does community mean to you?

Neva Lee Recla:

That’s a good question. I think, community, to me, means a lot of things. I remember the first start of community I… I guess, not start… the taste of community I really got was at CEO Spaces the whole model of collaboration. And I think from there I’ve been in a lot of my own communities. For a while, it kind of just meant being within the family or business conferences. But I think now, to me, it’s kind of everything. And I’ve kind of learned, if the community isn’t there, I don’t really want to be there. Like my friend group is a great example. One of my favorite communities is family. So I think it’s a place where you can go and as mom said, where you don’t feel small and where the people, no matter how many it is, who it is in the community, are helping you feel whole who you are, not pushing you farther back.

Justin Recla:

Yeah. I love that. The community’s about coming together and uplifting one another. Right?

Neva Lee Recla:

Yeah.

Justin Recla:
