Hello everyone this is Tonya Dawn Recla, your Super Power Expert. I’m delighted to have with me someone near and dear to my heart. Jill Lubin has been in the PR industry forever. Most people think of Jill and they think, immediately, PR and vice versa. But what’s fascinating about her is she has some amazing Super Powers, and she’s really on this mission to change the world. So, I’m excited for her to be able to share some of that with you all, and to help her in that mission.

Jill, welcome to the show.

Thank you so much Tonya.

So as with everyone, I’m going to toss you into the mix and ask you, what are your Super Powers?

Well, I got my handy cape right here.

I love it!

Part of my Super Powers is that I’m able to camouflage and change capes at any given moment, which by the way is a good Super Power.

It’s a phenomenal Super Power!

I would tell you it might be Super Power is one of connection. That, to me, also ties into kindness because I’m working on a new book. Actually, it’s launching as we talk. I will tell you, Kindness, called the Profit of Kindness, that’s what the book title is. And kindness is connection, connection is kindness. To me, they’re very similar and they’re tied together.

I absolutely agree. In fact, I was speaking with someone earlier today, another interviewee. When we were talking about what really happens when you meet people, in my languaging, in that frequency of love. When you really connect in that space, what you would call kindness. Just even giving people the benefit of the doubt.

Giving people the benefit of the doubt always helps. Which ties into one of my things called Patience, Flexibility, Compassion. Right those are out of kindness.

I love that. So how did all of this come about for you?

Well what is needed can public relations do anything. Yeah.

I’ve got four books already out, and just something inspired me. I was with Spirit and feel the call. It’s really interesting, as my 82-year-old friend said to me, “Wouldn’t it be nice if people are more kind? In fact, I think we should have a new kind of money.” She said, “I think we should have the currency of kindness. That’s really what will pay dividends and what we should reward people with.” And I went, “Oh my God!” Just when somebody says something. Next thing, I’m talking to publishers about the currency of kindness, which now became the Profit of Kindness. But that’s how this evolved, from one thing somebody said, which as we all know is Spirit just talking through to us, so that we can receive these messages that we are meant to do. So, that’s, for me, what took off. That just resonated. And then all of a sudden, the publisher said yes, and the offer came very fast. This, actually, was the fastest book I’ve ever had to write and deliver. And I think part of that is because kindness is so needed in this moment.

Oh, and the synchronicities. I always find that when you’re being guided and follow that that little voice inside of you, that it does flow smoothly. It’s difficult for people who haven’t had that experience to understand that it is the most natural state of our existence, when we trust, and when we follow that. But it goes against everything that we’ve been trained, is that it should be hard, it should be this, it should be that, and it should take a long time, and all these other things. But when you tap into that kind of universal energy, it just flows. It’s just natural. It’s like, you talk to all these authors, and ask how did you write that? And they’re like, “I don’t even know. It just came through me.” Which is so beautiful.

And wonderful, and exciting. It feels like it was planted in me. Like everything is leading up to this.

Yes, and I can really firm that up. I’ve known you over the years and it’s so beautiful to see this blossom and flow within you. And as with most of my guests, it’s like there’s like this entwinement of all the steps that you took to get here. It’s like the culmination of the worlds that you’ve lived in. While talking about kindness may seem on the surface to be kind of antithetical to talking about PR, but it’s not. It’s in the intersection that the real magic occurs.

Yes, and what the truth is, when you’re more kind you will get more business, and you will get a lot of publicity because people will remember you as that. What’s interesting is this started showing up for me bigger as I started reflecting. I do a lot of speaking around the world, and people who’ve known me, and when they introduced me, one of the things they say is, “She has a really big heart and she’s very kind.” We still talk about my warmth and they’ll talk about something and I said, “Oh isn’t that nice.” And then I realize, it is very nice, and it is absolutely a part of who I am. And you might call it a Super Power. I don’t even think about it this way because it is so natural for me and yet it is a Super Power.

That’s true. So many of my guests, our experts and people in our network are like, “Your Super Power is the most natural thing in the world for you.” It’s like a Super Natural Power, we should call it, because it’s the thing that you’re like, “That’s what I do.” Like it’s effortless on some level. It’s mostly where people get stymied with it is in having the courage to lead with that because it doesn’t feel like any big deal. I think a lot of folks who are attracted to us, who come into our network, feel like at some point there’s going to be this like the fireworks, and the pearly gates are gonna open up, and, of course, a choir of angels will sing Hallelujah when they discover that there’s Super Powers. And it’s like they’ve had it all along. They didn’t know it and they didn’t know that. Not everyone does it and not everyone has the natural tendency toward that. And that’s when you’ve really settled in to yourself is when that comes through you.

So true, so true.

I love it. So what’s the plan with it? where are we going with all that.

Oh, well, I keep listening, I keep watching, and I will tell you, my attention is the corporate, far more. I’ve been working with small business owners and entrepreneurs, and teaching publicity courses, all of which by the way are still continuing because I am called there their too. For me it’s an and conversation. I feel that there will be far more now in the corporate world mostly because it’s a message that is much needed. And I will see where else I will be taken.

I feel that there’s a lot that’s coming forth here, some of which, I’ll just ride that wave and watch what happens. So, I will tell you where I’m headed and where I’m planning is corporate speaking and continuing my publicity courses and helping entrepreneurs and small business owners because I love that. It’s just something that’s natural for me. Another gift from me is helping people with their messages. So, I love that and I will continue doing that. What I’m adding here is the more corporate speaking and touching that audience.  

Here’s the interesting intersection for me. I am a professional, I’m a Master Publicity Strategist for me. They intersect with teaching kindness like mom. I get to use my speaking powers, I get to use all the relationships. And here’s what’s interesting I was looking for a group of entrepreneurs and I said, “Hey, listen. I got this new book out and I’m looking for corporate speaking engagements.” A friend of mine walked up to me who happens to be a Venture Fund, Mergers and Acquisitions guy and said, “I know the head of training at Twitter. Would you like for their e-mail?” That’s what’s happening now.

Of course. And I love that you’re attesting to that because one of the scariest pieces in following the calling is how am I going to make money at this, how is this going to unfold? And I know that for a lot of us who have experience in whole other worlds. Again, there is intersection, and in yours it’s very synergistic, but some of them aren’t as obviously synergistic. And so, it feels like we’re having to close a door on one thing to step into something else. And it can be extremely frightening especially if we’ve amassed wealth or established success and have something that we that we really don’t want to lose. We really don’t want to lose our homes and our livelihoods, and it’s battling that idea that in order to do what you’re here to do and to serve that purpose there is like this vow of poverty that has to be taken, or you have to kind of extract yourself out of normal society. Every time I hear stories like yours, I love to highlight those because it doesn’t have to be that way. Where we could operate in pure choice. And so, I appreciate that you’re embodying that, that you’re speaking about it, and that you’re determined to figure out how to weave it all together because you do feel called to be in all of those spaces. And one of the things I teach over and over and over again is in the abstract, you really truly can do it all because we have the capacity to be in all of those spaces simultaneously. It’s just challenging the fears within us that tell us like that that we can’t, or that we shouldn’t, or that all of those stories. And so, I appreciate you being kind of this warrior moving into that space boldly and courageously.

Thank you I appreciate that. And let me just say, to all you listening. Honestly I’m scared too. I think it’s too much to be afraid. To certain extent I guess in my years of public training have taught me that even in the face of fear promotion. And was that helping people with their fears. But I had my all around showing up at promotion and stepping forth here’s what I noticed is that every time I feel like a little new chick bird that’s breaking through these egg shells, and let it be born again.

That happened to me in my first book and when I saw it I went to my first book signing at Barnes and Nobles and saw my poster life-size, I’m like, “Oh my God.” But I think we all deal with this and I’ve just learned through years of media training how to handle it. To know that, at one level, we’re all afraid, and that’s OK. So, either I’ll speak about it, or I won’t because sometimes it’s almost better not to not give it too much energy. But it’s just like, “Oh, thank you. I know you’re there.” Try to hold her hand and embrace her sweetly, and move forward anyway because I got work to do.

It’s a great opportunity to practice kindness with those pieces of you. I said that at one point in my journey, I would have sworn that the goal was to rid ourselves of fear and that we would rise above it. We went and saw Dr. Strange here recently, and during a part of it the Ancient One says, “We never get rid of our demons. We just rise above them.” And I think it’s good to remember that they’re there because that’s how we connect with things. That reminds us. And that the key isn’t to extract them completely. I’m not even sure if you can. Maybe you can when you transcend, but it’s to be an observation of them. And you get to choose how you deal with them. Not chastise them, not push them aside, not ignore them, not make yourself wrong for them. But what if we just love them, and we just say, “Wow, look at that. That’s that great reminder that this is exciting, what I’m doing.” Because excitement is kind of the flipside of fear. What if it doesn’t work, what if the rollercoaster breaks, it’s like we do it anyway and it’s the thrill of the ride. Without that what’s the point? Why are we doing this?

Exactly. Isn’t that the truth. And so, thank you. And I think for those of us who are of the world and people look at us and go oh she’s got it all together or whatever and this you do a podcast. It’s a fabulous thing that we’re doing. To me it’s the service and the gear but we’re all dealing with the a issue shall we say at hand. But I know the whole part about kindness, patience is a part of kindness and generosity is part of kindness.

And constantly stepping into that. I can’t tell you how many layers I’ve ripped off of showing up in the whole kind of Super Power conversation and as the Oracle as all these things and it’s like every step like you would think oh this is the last one like when I show up fully in this thing what could scare me after that. And then there’s always another layer of it. And on the other side of it always kind of looks a little silly. You’re like what was I worried about. But in the midst of it it’s very real. And those pieces of you are afraid and it’s I think the gift is one in the support system like what we have in the NET. But also in in just the experience of doing it over and over and over again in a more cellular competence we have that says hey you can survive this. It’s going to be OK. Then that creates the open space for even bigger, bold moves and even bigger because you grow in and it’s easier to. Do it sequentially like that than it is to kind of weed from A to Z. And what would be the fun in that anyway?

Oh the truth.

I love it so. So let’s talk about I know you have a really cool live in your power story. We discussed a little bit about how you got the guidance to write the book. Is there more about that that you want to share or is there another story you want to share about taking that inner guidance and what happens when you follow it?

Well, I think what happens, interestingly enough, everything you said during the first part, falls so quickly into place. I mean, I have four other books. Let me tell you, every single one of them taken a year and a half to two years to get to market. This one here, I got my contract in March and the book was delivered by July. One final read by November and out by January. I mean that is so fast. That’s nine months. It’s almost unheard of. So, what I’m saying here is, when you’re on that path that for me is what unfolds so beautifully. And already I have two TV interviews that are put for the first week of the launch. Just everything I notice is happening very simply, quickly. That’s not to say now, here’s what I also want to say, my oars are in the river, I’m paddling along, and sometimes, I’m frankly catching my breath and keeping up with it all. Because I think part of that is that as things are going so wonderfully you also have to, for me. I’m looking at, all right what do I need to do to stay in self-care. Do I have to take a bath tonight to just keep my system calm? How do I stay grounded and wonderfully present in the energy, staying also eyes wide open? Continuously, where are people saying yes, who do I still need to call, keep listening for guidance. And then, I get this text today from an old friend. And I went, oh my gosh, I didn’t even say anything to him. He’s got thousands of people on his list that he comes merging with Profit of Kindness. So what. who started showing up pay attention to that. That’s what I’m noticing is that I feel like I am being really supported in all this. And although I can’t tell you every part of the game that I don’t actually have a tremendous amount of OK this will happen here in this lab and they’re there. I do know who my team is and I’ve got you I’ve got them in place. But I will tell you there’s parts that if you ask me what’s next. I don’t actually at every level. No. I just know what I’m being called to do. And I’m going to keep following that. And I think to me that’s really about staying. Where one is supposed to be. Being and also being lead, and then staying open to surprise, possibility, things that are way beyond what I could ever. By the way create an X. Or as I like to say, more that God has in store for me.

Well and you and you’re so right in the sense that if we if we hold to the House and the details we actually limit it because we can’t see all of it. I call it looking for the little clues. I see the big vision,  I get I get a feeling and a sense of where all of it’s going but how it all is going to unfold, there’s so much between here and there. I just in every moment look for clues. They are illegal. I feel like I left little clues for myself to come back and pick up so that I can actually be in the vision that I’m creating and that’s how that’s how I interpret it to play that game. But I find that it opens up so much more expansion for me because all those little pieces we talked about earlier they get their hands on the vision that they limited they put it in a box it makes sense to them. Staying open creates real potentiality.

Yes, doesn’t it though? And I have to tell you it’s against everything I know as you and I have talked about. I’ve always been a driver, I’m at the front, I’m a leader, and all of a sudden, I’m waiting for Spirit to tell me what to do next. I’m watching for signs and it’s really a different way. I also notice, though, as I stay more in that, in these times and you get one who’s so much with that, I’m so grateful. Absolutely. But as I to that guess what! That’s where the miracle sounds or that’s where everything that’s to be next is show.
