Women and Self-Realization
Why are women so important on the spiritual journey? This episode is a dialogue between co-hosts Ayn Cates Sullivan and Mirabai Devi on the topic of Women and Self-Realization. We are recording in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia as friendly yoginis having tea. Defining Self-Realization can help one know how to attain and sustain higher consciousness. We will discuss the difference between a Self-Realized teacher who can take a person into Unity Consciousness, and an inspired spiritual teacher or sage, and an ordinary person. We explore terms such as the blissful Samadhi, a spiritual state known in the East as union with the Divine. People are fortunate if they have one taste of Samadhi. We will discuss why this is so. On this episode will we ask several questions including: Is it possible to attain Enlightenment and then sustain it? How do we transcend the small self and merge with the True Self? Why is humanity is so destructive, and is it possible to change the course of our direction? Is there Hope for humanity?
Ayn Cates Sullivan:
Welcome, and blessings. This is Ayn Cates Sullivan co-host of Messages of Infinite Light, and I’m here with Mirabai Devi. It’s amazing to be together here in Virginia nestled amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains. This area is also known as the Shenandoah, our daughter of the stars. We’ve come together to record some podcasts to send out some wonderful transmissions of light, love, and share the light of friendship from a beautiful spiritual retreat in nature. On this podcast, we invite you to explore solutions for an evolving humanity. And today we’re going to focus on Self-Realization.
I will be interviewing my co-host, Mirabai Devi, about Self-Realization. So let’s get ready to dive into that. First, let me put the episode in context. Self-Realization is understood in Eastern Indian religions as a path of liberating knowledge that reveals the True Self. There is a development of the witness consciousness and an eventual understanding of personal essence, and ultimately the I Am or God-realization, which is when we know ourselves as the Divine.
This personal connection is the direct relationship with the Divine. In Western psychology, the focus of Self-Realization is on the individuation progress, or the process from ego to the ideal self or True Nature. This is when we realize the full True Self. In this episode, we’re also going to discuss a neglected topic and this is Women and Self-realization and why feminine energies are important now. So often, in a lot of traditions, you’ll see the Self-Realization, from a masculine context.
Today, we’re going to bring in a new flowering element to this. And I just want to add just for the record, there’s no better role model for children than a mother who honors her dreams while giving them the love and the courage to follow their own dreams. I’ll leave you with that thought. And if you do want to check out Mirabai Devi, go to www.MirabaiDevi.org and you can find out more about her. So stay tuned, we’ll be right back.
