I invite you to enjoy this time together. So here we go.

Please, let’s welcome Dr. Sheri Prentiss to my show. Today, we will be talking about the power of letting go and live. Dr. Sheri is a proven Visionary, Best-selling Author, and highly sought-after PhysicianLeader. Did I pronounce it right, Doctor?

Activate Your Superpowers

Yes, you did.

Perfect. In her right upper extremity, stripping her of her lifelong dream of being a practicing physician, she reinvented herself and went on to become a national public figure, professional speaker, and entrepreneur-owner of her own healthcare consulting business. She launched her new TV show, LIVE Today.

LIVE Today.

LIVE Today on CAN TV channel 21. The show is designed to increase exposure to her nonprofit organization and provide valuable education and resources to individuals living with lymphedema. She also recently launched her new podcast, Where Medicine Meets Ministry: Dr. Sheri Talks Faith and Facts, which explores the relationship between faith and facts and its divine impact on the coexistence of mind, body, and the spirit that we will talk about a little bit more later. Dr. Sheri brings the unique perspective of being a patient and a physician to her impassioned and captivating speeches. Her remarkable story of pain, loss, and change has inspired hundreds of thousands of people across the country and abroad. Please join me to welcome Dr. Sheri Prentiss to my show. Sheri, may I call you just Sheri?

Yes, you may, AngelaMaría. You certainly may.

Thank you so much for being here. And I’m so excited to listen to your story because I felt the energy and the power of this interview already. So let’s just start telling us what’s your healing superpower?

I believe my healing superpower is my voice. It’s interesting because, in times past, I probably would have said my hands as a physician. You walk into a patient’s room and you’re always laying hands. You’re examining, you’re using your hands to determine what’s right, what’s wrong, what’s normal, what’s abnormal. But what God has revealed to me, particularly over these past 12 years is that really where I was able to start my super healing power was really in my voice and how I relayed the diagnosis and how I talk to the patients and their families. And now, in my new extended role that goes beyond practicing medicine, I’m still finding myself using my voice, whether it’s in counseling, whether or not it’s in a motivational speech, whether I am teaching physicians on how to be physician leaders, or talking to women and new entrepreneurs and starting off their new insights and paths, it’s really has been my voice that leads, directs, guides, encourages, and motivates. So I would say my healing power, my super healing power, is in my voice.

Oh, I love it. Do you think your voice is also a healer?

Absolutely.

I feel it.

Absolutely.

Sheri. Will you please take us back to your early years and name one memorable life lesson that is useful for you today?

Early years. I would say it would go back to probably I had to have been in maybe fifth or sixth grade. I’m the youngest of four children and my siblings are seven, nine, and ten years older than me. So by the time I got to about fifth, sixth grade, they were all kind of grown and off and on their own. And so, I had no one else to blame when things went wrong.

And so, now, my parents figured, okay, if something was out of sorts, they didn’t do it. It must be me. And I remember the first time that I had to face the truth. I had to cry canaries. I had to fess up. And I remember my mom telling me because the way I had expressed what I did, was based on what someone else did. So I was simply reacting. I was not acting purposefully. I was reacting to what was done to me.
And I remember my mom telling me this. “Sheri, there will be times into every action, there is a reaction, but what I want you to learn and what I want you to learn now and early is your own part. So regardless of what someone else may have done, on your part.” And so, with that, now I no longer talk about I did this because. I now immediately confess what I did and I own, whether it’s good or bad, I own my part.

Let me tell you that I do believe that is deep, deep learning that we need to take as human beings. Beginning with our own life, you have what you created. It’s yours, nobody else’s and that’s tough.

Correct. So correct.

Oh, Sheri. I know how to pronounce your name, Sheri. I love it. It’s like in French.

I love it. I love it. Sheri, where could people go to find out more about you?

If they want to find out more about me, I would suggest first going out to my website and that’s drsherimd.com. I can also be found on Facebook at Dr. Sheri Prentiss, or also Sheri Prentiss. Sheri Prentiss is my personal page, but I do share words of encouragement there because remember, my voice is my super healing power. Dr. Sheri Prentiss on Facebook just merely informs them of what’s happening to me on a professional level. But I also can be found on Twitter at divaMD7. And I can be found on Instagram at Dr. Sheri, MD, and obviously also on LinkedIn and on YouTube simply at Sheri Prentiss.

Sheri, let’s go to a small, I promise, truly short break. And when we come back, we keep on talking about the power of letting go and live. We will be right back.
