Relationships should also be a haven not just for couples but also for the whole family. Tune in to know how to turn your relationship into a solid foundation in coming together in times of chaos.
Tonya Dawn Recla:
Hello everyone and welcome back to The Apple Flavored Pomegranate. I am Tonya Dawn Recla with my wonderfully delicious and delectable husband Justin Recla here with me, right beside me. Hello, my love.
Justin Recla:
Hello, everybody.
Tonya Dawn Recla:
He is quite divided. And he has quite the poem selection for you right before the break. So make sure you’re listening intently on this one, because we’re talking all about Coming Together in Times of Chaos. You know, we start with this because this is kind of a running theme in our existence. And a could actually be called the bone herbal way for couples. Because if you’re familiar with the old chimpanzee studies, animal behavior, and all that fun stuff that I delved into, in my graduate school days, it’s quite the funny story. And so we’re going to address that when we come back from the break because it is kind of a lengthy discussion about what’s possible between us as couples.
Justin Recla:
But it’s fun, though.
Tonya Dawn Recla:
Oh, it’s not just fun, it is saucy it is. It will change your relationship forever, I promise you that. If you entertain the fact that maybe we are much, much bigger than we think we are and perhaps much more variable than we give ourselves credit for and far more creative than we’d like to think and so we’re gonna challenge that notion here today on this episode because when we’re willing to come together in this space of kind of leaning in, right there, we do open up channels of creativity. And I and it seems like “Are you freaking kidding me, Tonya?” Like we’re talking about chaos, right? Are you aware of everything going on in the world? Like things are top and you’re like up in some cloud talking about creativity and flying together? And in spheres of light? Right? Yes, yes. And right, not fanciful at all. In fact, it is the only way we’ve seen to stay together and survive this stuff. We’re not denying that these things are happening, folks, we’re saying, we think this might be the only answer to it, right? And so this is how adamant we are about recognizing. Yes, for sure. Things are tough in the world, we are not really clear on what’s about to happen, where we’re going or where we’re going to end up, or even who we are anymore.
Justin Recla:
But in the moments, recognizing that we have a choice, especially in our relationship container, right? Absolutely. We’re not denying it. What we’re saying is that at the end of the day, you and I matter most.
Tonya Dawn Recla:
Absolutely and that’s really the point of today’s episode, is making sure that we know where to go when those energetic waves start washing over us and make us incredibly uncomfortable. And so that’s what we’re talking about today. And how you can do that. Not only how you are able to do that in your coupling, but also how we believe that it serves that incredibly solid foundation for the family and for communities. And for the world at large. And in coupling we get to see this reflected, we can move through and reprogram those layers much faster and reflect. And if we know how to hold these in spaces of love, then it’s easier than we think I promise you that we will touch on that when we come back from the break. For now. Justin has a beautiful poem to share all about today’s topic. This is
Justin Recla:
Close Close All Night by Elizabeth Bishop.
“Close, close all night
the lovers keep.
They turn together
in their sleep,
Close as two pages
in a book
that read each other
in the dark.
Each knows all
the other knows,
learned by heart
from head to toes.”
Tonya Dawn Recla:
