Here Comes the Snake – Live in the Pink!

personal-power-snake As the new Chinese year kicks off, the dragon swims back into her underwater cave for another 12 years. On her journey, she passes the latest zodiac energy emerging from the same watery depths in a purely feminine and transformational way. The black water snake gently cuts the surface of the water with her head held high demonstrating the confidence and knowing of her sign.

This imagery lends itself nicely to the Live in the Pink!TM concept. While it provides obvious connections to the rise of feminine energy so readily talked about today, it goes deeper than that. In fact, the entire conversation around feminine and masculine energies goes so much deeper than that…or it should.

[As an aside, while I’m typing this post, the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies song, “Here Comes the Snake” keeps playing in my head. Totally wrong lyrics, but GREAT beat. (YouTube.com/watch?v=4DuKryUfa6Q)]

Okay, back on track…

Live in the Pink!TM is all about balance. It’s about integrating both the masculine and the feminine and maintaining a centeredness based on this integration. I get that it all sounds very pleasant and obviously beneficial, but the follow-up question is usually, “What does that mean??”

The concept is intentionally multifaceted because the process is quite involved, but the application of the concept is relatively simple. At the end of the day, it simply suggests that we’re all better served if we stand in our true, authentic power, rather than modeling what we’ve seen from others or what we think we “should” be. All of this stems from a level of awareness. That awareness develops from understanding how you move through the physical world (situational awareness) and understanding how you exist in the metaphysical world (spiritual awareness).

The Live in the Pink!TM concept connects the world of our physical beings, often discussed in terms of personal safety, preparedness, etc. with the world of spiritual happenings, often discussed in terms of karmic lessons, energetic archetypes, etc. Both conversations are important, but they only take us halfway there. We are spiritual beings having a very real human experience. Any discussion of awareness must incorporate both worlds.

So…here comes the snake. The beauty of this imagery is that the snake is a very real, very physical being. As an animal, snakes invoke a wide spectrum of reactions from people. Think Indiana Jones, “Snakes…I hate snakes.” Regardless of opinion there’s no denying most people maintain a healthy respect for snakes. And symbolically, the image of the snake provides rich and powerful connotations. Snakes represent change, the cycle of life and death, temptation, healing, and too many others to list.

As for the significance of Chinese snake years, they tend to bring unexpected transformations to our lives. The kicker is, we can anticipate both outward manifestations of change and plenty of activity beneath the surface. Behind-the-scenes talks, secret negotiations and clandestine activity will characterize this Chinese year…things are not what they seem in a Snake year. This makes the concepts of situational awareness and spiritual awareness that much more potent and the concept of Live in the Pink!TM that much more powerful in 2013.
