Hello, everyone. Welcome to Your SuperPowered Mind. This is Kristin Maxwell, and in this show, we explore the process of transformation and give you tools and strategies that you can use to transform your own life. Today, I am super excited to be speaking to a really good friend of mine, Michelle Kopper, about becoming visible when you just want to hide, which kind of makes me laugh because I think we’ve all been there.
Michelle Kopper is the founder of the Inspired Voice Business Coaching. As a visibility expert, she guides entrepreneurs to find their eyelined authentic voice so they can share their unique message in the biggest possible way. She had a former career as an actress. She’s also a singer, a songwriter and has had her own struggles with visibility.
And even though Michelle works primarily with entrepreneurs and business people, I really wanted to bring her on the show because her message around the blocks to being visible and being noticed and how we can step into being fully seen and present, are kind of magical. So I’m really excited to share her. So Michelle, welcome.
Thank you so much. I’m so excited to be here with you. That was a very lovely introduction.
Thank you. It’s true.
Well, thank you.
So my first question is always, what superpower did you discover as the result of mastering your mind?
Well, your introduction really kind of framed that beautifully because what I’ve discovered is mastering my mind is what I needed to do as a huge part of how I overcame my own fears around being seen and heard, and the excruciating vulnerability that came with being highly visible for me and in doing so, it unlocked my own awareness that I am here to be a champion for others to do the same thing.
So I would say my superpower is really helping other people find their daring and audacity and courage to speak up, be seen, be heard, share their message, share their voice, their creative gift, and stop withholding their self-expression. So my superpower is really that I can because of what I have transformed.
I believe in my own journey towards self-expression, I have a unique ability that resonates, that presence is in my message, my voice, that everything I put out to uplift, inspire and help others really find that courage and determination to step into their own greatness and share it with the world.
Oh, that is lovely. And what I love about what you’re saying is, I’m going to tell you that it used to be, I’d hear people, and here you are, you’re very visible. You put yourself out there in the world in tons of ways and seem so poised. And to hear you say, well, I used to be vulnerable. It’s almost like, well, I don’t believe you, because how could you go from being vulnerable to where you are now?
Yeah. Guess what? Here’s a big secret. I’m still vulnerable. I think our vulnerability is our secret sauce. It’s our gift. But what I have now is that it no longer stops me, and that gets us into some of the mindset work, some of the spiritual healing work, some of the faith and confidence work that I’ve done, but I’m still vulnerable. There are still some days I have to work towards not pushing and pushing on myself.
Sometimes I have pushed myself out into visibility, but yeah, I still have that vulnerability. I still have some of them, is it good enough? And am I just rambling? Especially if I have a day where I’m really visible or if I do multiple interviews or I’m on Facebook lives or live streaming or teaching on stage. If I’m doing those things, I may have that kind of echo or shadow or ripple of a vulnerability, and I can even feel it as I’m talking about it, rising up in my body a little bit, kind of a feeling in my heart center of a little anxiety bubbling there.
So I don’t remember your question, but my experience is that we don’t arrive at this place of total confidence and stay there forever. I think that what happens for me is I often experienced that vulnerability either right before or sometimes right after I am visible, but in the moment what has happened for me over time, that in the moment it slips away because I have learned to tap into my own calling, my own spirit, my own higher power, my own channel, to something much bigger than me when I’m speaking and sharing, so that in the moment of it, the fear or the anxiety or the vulnerability often slips away. And I really am transported to, as I said into my own greatness, but then after or before, thinking about it is where that vulnerability can really slip in.
So for years I would say, feel the fear and do it anyway. And I did a lot of bootstrapping and kind of shoving myself out into the spotlight in a lot of different ways for better or for worse, right? I don’t think there’s any mistakes or anything’s wrong, but I didn’t know if I would ever completely transcend that paralyzing fear where the words went out of my head for years as a singer, a songwriter.
I would have these songs come through and I was literally struck silent with tension in my throat and voice and emotion that stopped me from being able to sing. So for years, I thought I would just have to kind of work tools and use performance tools and all kinds of different, crazy energy tools to do it anyway. But what happened for me is that I have reached a place where I am actually able to be on the other side of that fear a lot of the time when I’m actually in the creative moment.
So when I’m actually talking with you right now. Talking about it, I feel a little bit in my body, I’ll say that. But it’s more happening on the other side that vulnerability will kind of pop in after or pop in before. So it’s still there, and what I didn’t know for sure is if I’d be able to completely have the moment of expression, creative expression, singing, teaching without the fear, and that’s something that I would say is part of my superpower now that I no longer have to constantly navigate the fear, but in the moment I do transcend it. I can come past it and really get out of my own way to serve and allow what’s coming through to come through.
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I do. Yeah, I really do. Well, there’s so much around, even just my story and you’ve known me for a long time and doing this podcast was for me how awkward I am and feel.
And how great it is now.
But we do have to take a break. I really am super excited to dig into, what are some of those tools that you used to allow yourself to become visible, and what our listeners can do? But before we break, can you let people know where they can learn about you and your work?
Oh, sure. Yeah. So michellekopper.com. I’m sure you’ll put that in the show notes. michellekopper.com is a website. Why I would send you there would be to check out a free tool that I have. It’s going to help you get some clarity around some of the tools we’ll talk about after the break called the powerful presence quiz. So if you go to michellekopper.com, you can get some support and encouragement to free your own voice and presence and connect with me there.
Great. Thank you. Hang on people and come back. We’ll talk some more about becoming visible when you just want to hide.
