Defining Fatherhood

As our world experiences unprecedented changes and we’re invited to view everything through different lenses, our concept of fatherhood and the men who hold that role top the list of transformations. Coinciding with a massive reinterpretation of complex masculinity as the rise of the divine masculine continues its steady ascent, we see fatherhood bouncing around inside constructs it didn’t feel ready for. Without a solid developmental shift in our perceptions of the depth of masculinity, fatherhood is stuck emulating the vapid, superficial, toxic, violent, emasculated, bereft portrayals of father/child relations that leave us scratching our heads wondering how we managed to water down one of the most powerful and magnificent relationships possible between incarnate entities

Don’t miss this opportunity to take an illuminating look at the subtle, and not so subtle, layers inherent in the fatherhood conversation. In looking more closely, we see the opportunity to uplift the entire conversation, uplift our concepts of fatherhood, and ignite the inherent power held tightly within the confines of a limited perspective of the masculine roles and the men who hold them. Join us as we illuminate a higher perspective and gaze upon the extremely important and timely task of defining fatherhood.

The Series

In this IM Series, we explore the concept of fatherhood building on Expanding Motherhood. As with that series, we take a non-traditional perspective of fatherhood, as the child we are who experienced it, as the partners we are who stand beside it, as the fathers we are who strive to do it better. Fatherhood and the divine masculine illustrate a different growth process than what we saw from motherhood and the divine feminine. As the feminine expands out in its expression, the masculine gets clear. The prevalence of the masculine concept makes it both pervasive and difficult to capture through any viable framework, but capture it we must. Defining the varied nuances and edges that make up the fatherhood concept is a phenomenal place to start in order to better understand the level of complexity we’re dealing with.

In this series, you’ll:

  • Understand more fully the difference between the process inherent within the divine masculine in comparison to the unfoldment of the divine feminine.
  • Learn the importance of defining the complexities and intricacies of fatherhood, the provider, defender and leader roles within it and the men courageous enough to play those roles
