Just how much do mind matters impact our projected reality? Some say it is the only thing that matters. Ani Anderson, co-creator of Sensation-Based Mindset, knows the importance of managing the mind and finding the balance between our inner and outer realities. She joins Tonya Dawn Recla to dive into the various aspects of the mind and explore the innate power lying within each one. Listen in as they provide tips and tricks for enjoining your mind in your evolutionary journey.
Hello everyone. This is Tonya Dawn Recla, your Super Power Expert and I’m delighted to share with you just a wonderful wealth of information about some concepts that a lot of you struggle with of these minds, they’re all very, very, very smart, intelligent people and sometimes that’s our biggest hiccup in this development evolution game. So I’m really excited to bring in this conversation. Ani Anderson embodies this sense of everything from what is the mindset piece and how to do we kind of talk about in ways that make. We like our boxes and our constructs and kind of make sense of something so that we can really utilize each one of those components in a way that heightens our evolution. Here at Super Power Experts, we’re big fans of taking advantage of our resources is how I’ll frame it.
Excuse me. So Ani Anderson is the author of Find Your Soul’s Agenda and she does a lot of work in the sensation based mindset. So I really appreciate some of the terms and the terminology that she uses that’s subtly different than our curriculum and it really illuminates some of these differences that you’ve heard us talk about. So this is really gearing up to be a phenomenal conversation here and I’m excited to have you all along for the ride.
Please join me in welcoming Ani to the show. Welcome, Ani.
Oh, thank you so much. I’m so glad to be here today.
We’re excited to have you. I am very excited about this conversation. But before we get into the yummy gooeyness of it. Let’s start with the exciting question: What are your super powers?
So, I have two that really came to mind and one of them was really developed through years and years of study and that’s what I have, a super power as a body-mind expert and we’re going to talk more about that for sure. And my second super power, not to say it wasn’t developed by learning but it was more experiential. I am exceptional at seeing relationship patterns and this plays out within the body-mind expertise but also just in that relationships are like the basis for everything, whether we’re talking about our personal life or our business life, relationship with self, relationship with life. I am really skilled at being able to see relationship patterns and I definitely consider that my biggest super power.
Beautiful. I love that and I love that you mentioned that relationship to self, which we refer to the internal-external game and we’re big believers that what the projection shows us is the replica of what’s happening internally and if you use that approach, if you look at the relationship to self and the relationship to others, it’s a really rich environment to grow in a solid kind of efficient manner, right? If we can systemize growth then we’re going to do it, by golly.
Yeah, no kidding. You’re absolutely right. I mean, it’s that relationship to self that’s really at the basis of all relationships and the more systemized we can be around it to learn how we can really do that to shift our external reality it’s this power.
Well and I think that’s what’s so wonderful about the work that you are; it’s the control measures, the discipline, of managing a different kind of vibrational feedback that we receive in the body gets really challenging when we have limited constructs to work with. So most of us matriculated through processes that it was pretty much the mind. I joke with people because they would ask me if I always knew that I had superpowers and I was like, no, really I just thought I was very smart because that’s what everybody told me was, “You’re smart. You have good programs.” I was just very smart. Well, the challenge with that is that sometimes I do not do smart things and so it’s like, “Well, who am I if I’m very smart?” But then I do not do smart things and then that challenges the very definition of my existence and on top of that, it wasn’t intellect that I was really leaning on but no one even suggested that it might be something different.
Yeah, do we have a language to describe what that is?
No, and that’s what so fun about this game I think right now and I don’t know about you but I was really resistant to developing constructs around it because it was like, “Well, this is unique,” and it took me probably 20 solid years of working in this material to be willing to say, “Okay, I think we’re seeing some patterns here.” I think we can call this out in a way that’s not disingenuous to the real personal unique experience everybody gets to have with it but as foundational principles, I know you as a parent understand the fact that when you can provide a framework kids do miraculous things within it but without the framework it’s kind of like my experience, which was, “You can do whatever you want to do.” And then all of sudden at 18, it was like, “What do you want to do?” And it’s like, “What? No one said I was going to have to make a choice. How do you make a choice with infinite possibilities?” Crazy.
So I appreciate the fact that you’re calling a lot of this stuff out.
I relate to that so much of what you’re saying. Remembering the first time I landed in an energy medicine class, I didn’t know it was energy medicine.
I love you said landed.
I did, I landed. Literally, I’m in the class, it was level two, by the way. Level two and I look around the room and we all have our hands hovered above other people and I was like, “Oh my God. What did I do?”
What Kool-Aid did I drink?
Exactly. I had no idea this was what I had gotten myself into. I was under the auspice that I was being very scientific. So my background, my college degree, is in occupational therapy and we had to take continuing education to keep up your license and stuff and so I started to look at what was available to me and everything sounded really boring.
But there was this course, it had a word in it I didn’t totally understand, it sounded kind of cool and that’s the course I ended up in and little did I know it was energy medicine. And like you, 20 years later, I’m like, “Wow.” I couldn’t have, at that time in my life, chosen energy medicine. If it said that, I would have run away screaming but my professional life has been learning and understanding and integrating energy medicine principles in a way that’s very practical for people so they can understand and systemize what I do. It used to be that I was the person who was a great intuitive healer and finally that really frustrated me because if that’s me and there’s no system behind what I’m doing I can’t teach other people.
Correct.
And it’s like its own prison, is how it felt to me. It was like, “I got nothing. I can’t do this forever. I certainly can’t expand nor do I want to.” And I’m laughing because you’re telling my story with the different verbiage. I found myself as a counter intel agent doing tarot card reading going, “What the heck happened here?” I interviewed early, early on in the podcast, I interviewed Danielle. She’s a big psychic, she advises for supernatural and stuff like that and gets called into cold cases and I was talking and she was laughing. She’s like, “You know, it was so much easier coming out as a lesbian than it was coming out as a psychic.” Because a lot of us come from these very practical, conservative, traditional backgrounds, that was the journey we took. And it’s like, “What the heck is all this?”
So anyway, I feel like you and I could probably sit over coffee for hours.but let’s talk a little bit about, I do want to share this because I know so many people, especially highly intellectual people, very successful, high achiever people struggle with understanding how to use their mind, when it’s good, when it’s not, because a lot of the kind of woo woo world will tell them not to use it, to quiet the mind, to do all this stuff and yet I took about a year of really feeling pretty crappy about myself because I couldn’t quiet my mind and thinking there was something wrong with me so I was like, “Well, maybe my mind doesn’t want to be quiet. Okay, can I work with instead of trying to work against it all the time?” And I think what you’re about to share with our audience helps them see how that’s possible. So talk to us a little bit about that.
Yes. First of all, when we talk about how to use your mind, what I know to be true and educate people on is it’s not just the brain. Our mind doesn’t just live between our two ears. The mind is our entire system, which includes our body-mind, our heart-mind, our emotional mind. Yes, our intellectual mind. How about a collective consciousness? How about the energy body? There is so much mind that we have access to and so when we say mind and we’re talking about the brain, we’re very, very limiting ourselves.
Or logic even. Even if we don’t think about where it’s housed internally, the idea of logic is so hyper-focused, especially in our culture. It’s not true in all cultures but particularly in individualistic cultures.
Absolutely. There are so many different ways to talk about this and there’s so much information we have access to. I too was a meditator for years and I remember I’d been meditating with a Songa, a community, and an instructor for about eight years and I finally, very embarrassed, said to her, “I can’t quiet my mind. I don’t know what to do.” And she said, “Oh, that’s not the point. The point is to watch the thoughts.” And I was really frustrated at that point.
You were like, “Screw you all.”
Wasn’t that the purpose? I mean, come on.
It’s like, “A head’s up would have been nice.”
Totally. Why didn’t you tell me this day one? That doesn’t sound like fun, to sit there and watch what’s going on up here.”
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, totally.
I love it.
I really wanted so much that was a burning desire in me to feel and experience quiescence, that quietude and it wasn’t until I found Qi gong and Tai chi, the Chinese movement, a moving meditation, that I was able to find quiet because there’s the divine paradox when you move your body, your mind can be quiet or your thoughts anyway. So I got to experience that for the first time when I found Qigong and that was a very pivotal moment for me because just seeing how the paradox was working out through my being, this quiet while I was moving, this experience that I knew was there, I knew it was there. But I just couldn’t seem to find it with a traditional methodology and by the way, sitting and not moving my body. Wow, it just opened up so many doors and it really opened up my curiosity to way more of life and the information that was available to me in order to experience all kinds of things. Yeah, higher levels of consciousness but more depth in every area of my life as well.
Beautiful, beautiful. Well, we’re going to take a quick break. Before we do, where can people go to find out more about you?
The easiest place is to go to my website, anianderson.com.
Beautiful, beautiful. Well, this is a fantastic conversation. When we come back, we’re really going to flesh out how do you utilize and get really deep into this material because this, in my opinion, is at the heart of why most people aren’t moving into that space that they can see so clearly. So, stick with us folks, you’re not going to want to go away. We will be right back.
